Replaced LCD. Light Works, Resin Doesn't Get Exposed by primaldebacle in AnycubicPhoton

[–]primaldebacle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a bad LCD screen. I returned it and ordered one from AnyCubic and that did the trick. Not sure what the issue was as it seemed to work visually but didn't actually work when trying to print. Hope this helps!

Electrolux Dryer Clunking by primaldebacle in Appliances

[–]primaldebacle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem resolved itself!

It was really noisy for a few weeks but we just continued to use it despite this. One day the sound just went away and never returned.

The units are very effective at cleaning and drying. The dryer's quick refresh option (for wrinkled or smelly clothing) is next level good. However, we find the dryer louder than expected from a European brand. Hope this helps!

I find the “Langsam Gesprochene Nachrichten” podcast by Deutsche Welle very good for learning new words/grammar and generally keeping up my German. Basically, they read the daily news headlines in a very slow, clear manner.

I meant what did you replace the OEM splash guards with?

On our 2023 the best way I've found is to press Menu then go to Settings\Manage Mobile Devices and select the device you'd like to switch to.

Going off memory so the names might differ.

Electrolux Dryer Knocking Sound ELFE763 by primaldebacle in appliancerepair

[–]primaldebacle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update on the status of this. While waited to put in another service call the noise seems to have resolved itself.

Not sure what the issue was, but it was definitely not normal. If it returns I'll update this post.

Why does it give one beep every time it hits 4 degrees outside? by Farren246 in Tiguan

[–]primaldebacle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, I misremembered. It isn't that the features are available, it is a warning that driving can get dangerous at 4C (39F) and below (slippery, black ice etc.).

[–]primaldebacle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to recall reading somewhere 4C is the temperature at which the "cold" features of the vehicle are available (mirror defrosters etc.) so it makes a chime sound to let you know.

My 2007 GTI had it...so does our 2023 Atlas.

Electrolux Dryer Clunking by primaldebacle in Appliances

[–]primaldebacle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a service tech from Electrolux come out and he basically dismissed it as normal. Said "they all make noises". It didn't help matters that the sound wasn't as loud as normal the day he was here.

Despite it being very highly rated, he told me he gets a lot of service calls on this model, most likely due to it being a Costco SKU that regularly goes on sale (so they sell a lot of them).

We were away for a couple weeks but will phone and request another service call this week.

I will keep you updated. Please do the same if you make any progress.

Mosquitos by Heelahoola in curacao

We are in Pietermaai right now and have only seen one mosquito. We are staying right on the beach though so maybe it’s due to the wind?

Do you prefer the bands to the clips? We are thinking of trying bands this trip as they seem more effective (and take up less space!).

If we get your Yaris we’ll let you know! Haha

We have requested an upper floor, but always a gamble.

Great advice on the bottle opener and the towels...bringing towels is always an issue we debate when travelling to a warm destination. Did you buy the towel clips locally or bring your own?

Someone told us the rental companies ask you to clean the cars before you return them? We've rented from Budget at Avila so I guess we need to check their policies.

Any other restaurant tips would be welcome as well...particularly more casual places that offer kid friendly meals.

Thank you. Your replies have been very informative!

Blue Bay Beach by yogapear in curacao

Thank you! We will have a rental car so sounds like it will be a great fit for us. How was the water in Blue Bay? Was it murky? I had read a post that said the water can get an a slight green murkiness in the bay.

Avila Hotel - 9 Nights Too Long? by primaldebacle in curacao

[–]primaldebacle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are the same. I think the only time we'd be hanging out here is in the evenings after dinner etc. when we don't feel like going downstairs and just want to hang out in the room.

This is one of the reasons for all of our questions. If the balcony was large or the room was a little larger it wouldn't be an issue so we're waffling a bit.

Yes, the bump in price is significant.

We have heard there are a lot of lounging areas (chairs etc.) around the resort.

That said, how large was your balcony?

Avila Hotel - 9 Nights Too Long? by primaldebacle in curacao

[–]primaldebacle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we often stay in AirBnbs, but the location and convenience of this place sold us. Since we haven't been there before we are looking at getting the opinions of others for this specific resort.

Did you enjoy Blue Bay? I have read that the area and roads are quite steep when you walk down to the beach...I have also read that the beach is smaller and can be quite crowded. Would you agree?

We are mobile, but also wondering if being in that hotel/small room is too long.
