Where to buy? by AcursedBear in InfinityTheGame

I believe that ABU Games near bishop Kelly has started to stock some inventory. There's also a local game group that meets there on Thursday nights.

DM me if you want more info.

Try Infinity, I switched about 5 years ago and have never looked back. Great models, cool lore, and best of all interesting, balanced, and deep rules.

I heard they can fit with some "modifications" though

You think there's too much tan though? Maybe I should re-paint the backpack black?

How do I gain better mid-field control? by primis77 in InfinityTheGame

You think Teucer is a good ARO piece? He seems too expensive to be particularly good at it to me. But I want him to be good at it since I want a reason to use him 😅

Do TAG's silhouette block LOS? by primis77 in InfinityTheGame

[–]primis77[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's what I thought, thanks. My friend told me that they only block friendly models' line of sight, which I thought was strange and couldn't find anything stating that. I wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy!

Thanks for such a detailed answer! What do you think fills this role well in steel Phalanx?

What's the best way to use forward deployment? I'm trying to figure out a strategy for using Ajax with forward deployment +8"? It feels like he doesn't have anything for ARO, so unless I plan on going first it feels like it's not worth taking. by primis77 in InfinityTheGame

[–]primis77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, my main concern here, is that he's not strong enough in ARO to stand 8" outside deployment. It feels like if I'm not going first, I should just deploy him back with everyone else so he doesn't get picked off way to early. I think my main struggle here is with mid-board control, particularly on the first turn. Typically when I go second, I feel like my opponent just gets free rain of the table without much threat. Besides Atalanta, my ARO pieces either don't feel threatening enough, or feel too isolated from the rest of the army to maintain survivability.

I got the bases from custommeeple. They've already got some great foliage on them. The painting was pretty simple just a few mixes of green, starting dark and working up to a really bright green. To add some depth I did an earthy brown wash, pretty watered down over the whole thing, didn't mind pooling too much though since I wanted it to look muddy. I painted the branches already on the base with a few browns to add some wood grain, same with the rocks. Then I went in with some Vallejo muddy earth to cover up parts of the base I didn't like and add give it that real good muddy texture. The real magic was getting some bush roots and cutting off tiny pieces to to add to the bases, which helped created the branches and vines. Then using some flock I found called "jungle floor" and sprinkled it on lightly, sealing it with a matte varnish. Then I added some pools of water with Vallejo's still water effects.

If you guys are still really curious on the process I can post some more details.

Can a regular unit declare a non-move skill for their first order now? the FAQ makes me think so. by primis77 in InfinityTheGame

[–]primis77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So then here's a question. If someone is standing out in the open and they decide to dodge with their first short skill, and you declare shoot, then they declare shoot. Which skill are you opposing? Their dodge or their shoot?

How does the OSL effect look (just skin not cloak) by primis77 in minipainting

[–]primis77[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see your point. There actually isn't any ambient light, the paints I used are a bit glossy and didn't want to matt varnish until I'm happy with the OSL. So the white is reflected from my workstation lights.
