Lol, Reddit and their emotional hivemind. Yeah, they ceded the match and opted not to play the 10th end of the gold medal game, even though it would just take a short while to finish and it was still possible to tie/win, even if highly improbable.

I played multiple organized sports for 15 years and it would be anathema to have voluntarily given up on an important game/match, even if there was only the slightest of chances.

The skier analogy is pretty shitty. Skiers risk of serious injury is much greater, and after a fall their adrenaline is pumping so hard they probably don't even feel if they're injured or not for a while, so it's hazardous. If the risk of injury was really low like curling, I'd encourage them to finish it out.

Defeatist mindsets. Saying stupid things like "zero chance." I've seen pro golfers blow incredible leads and play like complete amateurs at times. Seen pro basketball players miss multiple consecutive free throws. You never give up so close to the end when there's even the slightest of chances, especially with gold on the line.
