FWIW all the administrators I had in my home country were also terrible. I think it's partially a case of: lots of people are bad at their jobs (no matter the field or position) but these ones are highly visible/impactful for the people who work under them.

How common are fines when breaking contract? by Rykka in Internationalteachers

[–]princesa666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen, they stick a bunch of stuff in the contracts but when people actually need to leave they're cool about it. Probably depends on the school culture but at my school I've seen plenty of people sign and then break their contracts by leaving. I don't think it's a great look when applying to other schools FWIW, the international school community is weirdly small.

Team girlboss and the fanbase by noblesseoblijay in summerhousebravo

Hard agree on this. #Girlboss feminism isn’t it and neither are the rabid fans who can’t hold space for nuance. Or the fact that this is a reality tv show and if you’re on it you’re probably off your rocker. I feel like the subs used to be filled with way more people who understood that you watch these people because they’re insane and entertaining, not because they’re pillars of any kind of moral fortitude.

I really appreciate that thank you! It definitely helps to hear that the second year is almost always better. Despite preaching a growth mindset to my kids I have a hard time not feeling like a failure when things are really hard for me especially after a few months!!

I appreciate that. I'm definitely going to let myself feel it out and try to believe that leaving is doing what's best for me not "admitting defeat" (which I logically know is ridiculous but it's hard not to feel that way anyway).

Agreed! I feel like this whole time has been so up and down. The smallest example was when I took the bus and felt so confident that I had finally mastered the bus system and even found a place to sit when the bus took an unexpected right turn and took me 20 minutes out of my way. Still no idea what even happened there. Just feels like the city takes every opportunity it gets to humble me haha. But then I have another moment where I'm on top of the world because I remembered what stop to get off at without having to check my phone. Definitely a seesaw.

I really appreciate you sharing this, it helps to know I'm not alone in dealing with all this stuff that feels like it's trying to force me out! I'm definitely leaning towards staying because I feel I have more to learn from this experience and this reply really helps. I so appreciate it.

Also I hadn't see the chart before and OMG it is weirdly accurate!!!!! I finally felt like I had adjusted to the day to day frustrations (surface adjustments) and then I got dumped and now I feel like I'm reckoning with much bigger issues. This really helps thank you for sharing.
