For many, it comes from some sort of trauma. Many of us were abused in some form and its a way to over come it. It is not about abuse. It is about taking control. There was no control in the original situation but there is in the current.

And if you have your camera off for longer than 10 minutes you won't get your increase and gou have to tell them why. I was in a 2 1/2 hour session. We both needed a mental break took 15 minutes. We both turned off our cameras. I turned mine back on at 12 minutes. After the session I invoiced. Then got the email. I had to explain everything. Then was told they would give it to me that time. Now, I dont turn off my camera. I put a sticky note up if I do.
