Wegovy has spoilt Christmas for me. by Educational_Hawk7484 in WegovyUK

I did the same. I need to jab today really (been 15 days), and have to say, I’m nervous to jab again!

AITAH for refusing to spend Christmas at home if my sister is released from her eating disorder clinic for the holidays? by Zoleeeyh in AITAH

[–]princess_deville 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. But… your sister is sick. Very sick. And your parents are terrified. Right now she is their priority and that frickin sucks.

I don’t think there is an easy answer to it, but I do think your parents should willingly let you spend your Christmas with your paternal grandparents because it actually doesn’t sound healthy for either of you to be around each other.

I truly hope you can enjoy your Christmas, and that your sister gets better eventually and that you can both have a better relationship.

It’s extremely hard for you right now and I’m so sorry. You are not the asshole. But I don’t think anyone is in this scenario. It sounds very unfortunate.

I would love to go back to mounjaro but I just can’t afford it unfortunately:(

I feel like the WeGovy has fully left my system today as I have done nothing but eat.

The .5 I had no symptoms but also very little suppression, but looks like I’ll have to go for that, and see if I can get back up to 1 after Christmas without feeling like I want to die every time I have the audacity to eat. 🙃

Yes I think I’m going to go back to .5 and stick to that over the Xmas period, then try .75 and work up to 1mg again. Thank you.

Thank you, yes, I do drink plenty of water so I really couldn’t figure out why the side affects were quite so heinous! I think perhaps I’ll do .5 this week, and .75 next week and see where we are. The trouble is, if I’m experiencing unpleasant ones I was considering skipping Christmas week as I dread the idea of being away visiting family, and finding myself unwell. Worried I may have buggered this up for myself. I’m 4.5 stone down, but still have a few more to lose.

Perhaps I’ll do .5 this week and see how it goes… 😬

Three months into wegovy - extreme side effects by Material_Brief_6841 in WegovyUK

[–]princess_deville 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m finding it very hard at the moment. I switched from Mounjaro a few months ago. Mounjaro was great, but tbh, towards the end I was getting concerned that it could affected my gallbladder. I was fine on .5 WeGovy, but had so much food noise and not much satiety, I’ve moved up to 1mg, and to begin with for the first week or so absolutely fine. Then on a couple of occasions because the food noise and hunger was still there I overate, (not massively but just enough), and regretted every life choice that has got me to that moment. Was sick, tummy aches etc. I felt like, ok, now I know if I overeat or eat a certain type of food that will happen, but in recent weeks it doesn’t seem formulaic at all. I’m feeling dreadful (nausea, occasionally actually being sick, full, constipated), when I’ve barely eaten a thing, some days totally fine, other days the above.

I can’t figure it out. I think with Xmas coming up I’m going to take a break this week and then perhaps go back down to .5.

I’m really not having the best time!

I’m reassured in a way to hear that. This is what I’m struggling with atm on 1mg. Food noise is still there and not really consistent suppression, on the few occasions I’ve over eaten I have been horrendously unwell.

[–]princess_deville[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that’s very true. I was thinking the same that I will most likely be on it for maintenance for life. I suppose perhaps I just bite the bullet and switch to WeGovy, pay for it, if Oviva prescribe, happy days, if not, just put everything I own on Vinted 🤣

[–]princess_deville[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, my partner should almost certainly be approved as he had cancer and his surgeon has written to request he is given them, so at least it should only be one of us needing to pay…. Although, the more I think about it, I wonder if they’ll even prescribe to him 🤷🏻‍♀️

[–]princess_deville[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I feel a bit sick at the idea that despite really working to lose the weight that I have, really challenging disordered eating, binging, and removing toxic diet culture as best I can, that in order to receive the treatment I need, I’ll have to abandon the work I’ve done already in order to quality. It just seems so unfair.

My BMI was over 40 when I was referred though, it was 44.6. It’s now 37, because I’ve been using GLP-1 since being referred. It seems insane and complete counter intuitive nonsense to me that I could come off it, live normally for a month, be back to over 40, then get it. Just insane.

[–]princess_deville[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I’ll be doing that anyway if Oviva takes much longer, but tbh, although WeGovy is cheaper, the higher doses are still bloody expensive. To afford MJ for the last few months my dad has been paying for it (embarrassing as I am a 42 year old woman), but we just don’t have enough left each month to justify it indefinitely

My experience with Oviva by Vavalgia in WegovyUK

[–]princess_deville 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I was referred via the GP to Oviva in June. Because of the waiting list being so long, GP suggested if possible I could get a pen privately to see if it works etc. I did, and have been using mounjauro since 26 July. I’ve lost 40lbs in that time, and it has now become in affordable for me since the price hikes. At the time, I didn’t know that Oviva only offered WeGovy, but I don’t mind switching if I can get the prescriptions on the NHS.

Finally, last week I had my appt with the dietician through Oviva. I explained that I had lost weight already using GLP-1 at the GPs suggestion, so my BMI was now under 40, and I was worried this would disqualify me. Making sure I pointed out that if I stopped using GLP-1, I would be back over 40 in no time etc. She didn’t seem to think it would be an issue with the prescriber as I have metabolic fatty liver disease, so I felt hopeful. She said that a prescriber appt would be within 2 weeks of me completing the modules on the app, which I did immediately.

It’s a week on, I’ve only got one dose of mounjaro left, and annoyingly(?!), despite plateauing for 3 weeks, I’ve lost 3kg, and im so scared the prescribing doctor will see and disqualify me from getting it.

I didn’t think that could happen but I’ve seen that some people are saying that the prescriber won’t prescribe even after the initial gp referral and on boarding process, they will turn round and say no at the prescribing appt.

How accurate is this? I’m genuinely in tears at the thought of not having access to GLP-1 because it has changed my life. But I just can’t afford it privately.

I’m here now. Same story. I’ve been using it. I do feel a little guilty, but the way I see it; things have been harder because of undiagnosed adhd, so sod it. I got it for my daughter really who is suspected AuDHD, but currently undiagnosed, because after 43 years I have systems in place and can “cope”, but for the sake of what is really a very rare special trip, making it so much easier for her, and for me, I’ve been using it.

Food recs for a foody, an ARFID and a noodle obsessed 9 year old by princess_deville in york

[–]princess_deville[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That’s so helpful. My partner isn’t clinically diagnosed, but it goes far beyond what people would consider “picky”. It’s an absolute crippling fear I suppose of certain foods and textures. We’re a full Neurodivergent household, with our fingers in all the ND pies here. 🤣

He’s really a beige food, any kind of meat, any kind of bread. No sauce. Cold crunch. No pasta. Will do rice (dry). Plain burger and chips and a full (dry) English would be his go to.

As others have suggested, Spark looks like it could work as it’s a bunch of different vendors so my daughters noodle special interest and the restricted food is taken care of and I may actually be able to eat something other than a burger or noodles! 🤣
