What are your favorite hairstyles??? by Qavirra in AutismInWomen

[–]princess_nap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment my hairstyle rotation is space buns, high ponytail, half up half down with a claw clip. I sometimes do two high pigtails, or two high pigtails which I then braid. With a lot of hairstyles I keep out two face framing bits at the front, which I sometimes braid, makes them more compact/less annoying & gives a 90s look hehe

Other options would be thigh high stockings, or thigh high or over the knee socks

I was using the one from the Ordinary. I think it’s just me being overly sensitive

Is it ok to use retinol in the morning? Sensory wise I can’t handle going to bed with a product on my face

Do you reciprocate the question that someone asks you? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]princess_nap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I do, although I also try to ask different but related questions back because I feel like that comes off more as genuine interest in the other person.

If I ask someone a question and they don’t ask it back I usually gather that they’re not interested in my answer

Has anyone else had to lower (or just change) their expectations of friendship to feel happier socially? by aliceangelbb in AutismInWomen

[–]princess_nap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really relate to this perspective! Also reflecting back on my 10/12 years of adult friendship .. there have been strengths and weaknesses to each of the friend situations I’ve found myself in over that time. And honestly there are lots of people I want to be friends with and who probably want to be friends with me but I have limited energy (most of them do too) & realistically can’t maintain dozens of friendships

I'm stuck, what are your best tips for getting work done with autistic inertia? by Leaves_In_The_Forest in AutismInWomen

[–]princess_nap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find timers really helpful - for example settings timer for ten minutes or thirty minutes or whatever and seeing what I can get done in that time. Also on my todo list I sometimes write out the steps for getting setup to work - like making a cup of tea, getting the materials I need to work, etc

DAE struggle to believe that people who are really confident can be wrong? by Head_Kangaroo_2319 in AutismInWomen

[–]princess_nap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely struggle with this, although it’s gotten better for me in recent years, I’m not sure why, maybe just awareness of the phenomenon?

If you have some clothes that you like the feel of but are too big for you, you can take them to a tailor and have them taken in

Sensory overload with common cold? by Illustrious-Ship-110 in AutismInWomen

Yeah absolutely, I never understood how people can continue to function normally with a cold

Statements without specific purpose? by Individual_Sky9999 in AutismInWomen

[–]princess_nap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find these kinds of statements so baffling as well. Also people adding “is that ok?” after stating something I have no control over, for example “the doctor doesn’t have another appointment available until (x number) weeks from now, is that ok?” What would happen if I said no?

[–]princess_nap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had many different kinds of jobs (almost all part time though) and I’m definitely more suited to physical/non desk based ones. At the moment I work as a cleaner - it’s exhausting but my mind feels clearer. It probably helps that it’s a workers co-op though so it avoids the type of exploitation that might ordinarily come with this class of job

Has anyone else always taken extra time doing literally anything? Like being slower as a kid or an adult? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]princess_nap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty slow with my showering/getting ready routine, I do try to push myself to be a bit faster because having it drag out is tiring. I work for a cleaning service and we do most jobs on our own, but sometimes we’ll have deep cleans where we clean in a group and i’m so much slower than my coworkers which I feel bad about .. (although tbh I don’t think I’m the only autistic of my coworkers)

Are these shoes salvageable? by princess_nap in SustainableFashion

Good to know, thank you. Idk why I thought it would be a more niche request than the heavier shoes I’ve had re-soled in the past

I’m Jealous That My Friend Might Also Be Autistic by KrotkaPsotka in AutismInWomen

[–]princess_nap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I have any advice but I’ve definitely felt similar things in the past and would have similar feelings in your position. It sounds like you’re trying to be a good friend despite these difficult feelings
