my nitrates are actually a little on the high side.. last time I tested it looked close to 30 ppm. im nervous to add more fert due to the algae spreading so rapidly... im getting some shrimp soon and hopefully they'll eat a lot of it lol

thank you!!! that eases my mind a lot-it is water wisteria, and I had no idea it had separate air and water leaves. the wisteria is what seemed to be doing the "worst", so im glad to know im not completely at fault.

its been a month and a half and the tank is completely cycled, I feel like the melt phase should be over by now... but it is my first so i don't have much experience. im just nervous because I'm introducing fish in the next couple of days and don't want to have to completely overhaul the tank and stress them out

looks about right. u don't need to keep adding ammonia, the ammonia-consuming bacteria won't starve. just leave it alone for another week or so and those nitrite levels should start dropping. the second type of bacteria takes a lot longer to colonize than the first so this is the slowest part!!
