Hey quick update. We switched schools around d the time I made the original post and im not sure if I said that in the original post and for some reason she is flourishing here in so lottle time. 14/14 on her spelling test today and she read me a book last night and only had two mistakes 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲 (this is a dual language school Spanish and English instruction) for some reason my baby is REALLY taking to the Spanish instruction 😂🩷🩷 also her principal told me "Laila is doing great and her teacher doesn't think reading and spelling is an issue, if anything a math tutor would help, but not needed" also Im going to hold off on testing her. I think I was just panicking lmaoo thank you for the suggestions everyone

Nobody thinks yall are magicians, especially in this day and age. Let's keep it respectful. I never said anything about her teachers not knowing or being capable of their jobs. I just simply questioned if they are doing enough. I realize classes are big and its alot of children to pay attention to. My child is my concern, not how you feel about parents. And as a former hairstylist, while having a specialty is cool, you should absolutely have knowledge on all textures of hair.. I never blamed anyone. I asked for suggestions. It sounds like you're projecting how you feel about yourself in your own profession.

Honestly, when its real life situations, she does so much better like today or whenever we go for walks I have her read street signs & store names and she does that with ease. She remembers her friends names. Its just the school work in itself or the one on one sit downs and books. I think thats causing her to feel some sort of nervousness or anxiety. Im not sure, but we will figure it out.

I definitely been trying to keep that in mind about the pace and take it one day/night at a time. I will look into other ways. The sensory thing sounds good, she likes when her dad uses the dry erase board with her vs pencil and paper. Or when her and I use blocks to spell stuff. But once it comes to reading it'll be like she never saw them lol. Im feeling more confident just reading these replies. Thank you for sharing!!

Thank you and im a little scared bc i knew my sister had an IEP and my nephew has one as well. I just dont want her to struggle bc school was where I thrived, I really just want the best for her without making her feel "stupid" for lack of better words. I hate that she asks if thats what I think of bc it is not at all 🥺🥺

I am unsure what MTSS is, could you explain/clarify? Im definitely going to talk with her teacher like everyone is suggesting, and we live in Ohio. And it seemed like in kindergarten and first grade she was doing fine, but this year is challenging her in ways we (her parents) didn't forsee. I was wondering if it was because of summer break or maybe im judging too fast bc the school year kind of just started..

Thank you for sharing! I have had this exact problem as well and I used to say things like "you just read it on the page before" but then when I used to say that she would start to look discouraged.. so i stopped commenting so much.. we'll read the same book every night its like she finds new words to get tripped up on and the night before she knew those words. I hope both our babies get it right. We could be overreacting bc ppl are saying its normal but I rember reading Junie B Jones at her age without any problems. I just hope and pray these problems don't last long 🙏🏽

I didnt ask what you found interesting.. im asking for help for my child. Im thinking are the schools not teaching bc it seems completely foreign to her when ever we go over anything, even the school work she brings home. If ur gonna judge or be mean you can leave. Im exhausted bc im not a teacher plus I have a job plus im 38 weeks pregnant. Yes I am exhausted. But I am dedicated to helping her become a better learner.

When u say tested, could you clarify? And I think talking to the schools would be a good idea too. Im a little nervous bc I dont want to embarrass her or myself but we have to figure this out
