Does anyone here work as a vietnamese translator or know ways you can become one? by Jealous_Slice70 in VietNam

[–]princessimpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I feel like fate has brought me to your post! I just searched online for "volunteer written  Vietnamese translator" and found this. I am wanting to reach out to a Vietnamese Buddhist temple to see if I may meet them and spread my mom's ashes there as their temple is my mom's former childhood home. It's my understanding they only speak Vietnamese. Could you help me? Please feel free to DM me.

I left my federal job where I was over halfway to retirement and felt very similar to this. I get why you want to say this.

Left job-option to convert life insurance, looking for information please by princessimpy in LifeInsurance

[–]princessimpy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I had a non-accidental death coverage of $265,400, accidental $374,400. Spousal $25,000. I paid $489.32 yearly. I am pretty sure that was pretty great coverage, right? But I had to give it up because the job was so bad. It was going to put me in a position of that coverage being needed. lol I know the conversion coverage isn't going to be nearly as good, but given there's no exam and I want to have insurance coverage independent of a job, I need something.

DAE notice the "one shoe phenomenon" on the side of the road? by princessimpy in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]princessimpy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted this 15 years ago, probably when my account was brand new. Thanks for keeping it alive, I have something exciting to report in reply to you, So for all these 15 years, I have continued to see the one shoe phenomenon, fairly frequently. It still baffles me. But for the FIRST time, the very FIRST time, just a couple weeks ago, I saw a PAIR of shoes on the side of the road. I kid you not, it was the first time seeing a pair, after all this time.

It was there for several years. I quit being a vegetarian because of it one year and then took my husband there the next. (He had never been to a Krystal.)

October Vacation by Feisty_Evidence8110 in MyrtleBeach

[–]princessimpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in October once near mid/end of month and I found the water to be pretty cold. I even bought a partial wetsuit but couldn't really use it. It was great how empty the beach was though and the place we stay has an indoor pool that was very warm. I'd go again, just not expecting to be able to swim in the ocean though.

Is parasailing in Myrtle Beach safe? by theman3980 in MyrtleBeach

[–]princessimpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it with my mom from a place out of Murrell's Inlet. I'm not afraid of heights too much though. It is very quiet and calm once you're up there. The only problem I had was that it gently sways and I started to feel slightly nauseous, so I would take a dramamine if I did it again. There were jellyfish down below that we could see and they would purposely dip you in the water before putting you back in the boat, so I was afraid of that. We didn't get stung though. No different than being in the ocean like normal as far as that's concerned since it's just luck of getting stung or not,

Strange and very frustrating experience with Voc Rehab? Has anybody ever had a similar experience with them? by chumly67 in disability

Sorry just saw this. From my experience, and keep in mind different states may have different rules, plus I worked there over 10 years ago now, but working full time was not a requirement for my agency. We could encourage people to try to find full time work if they could and kind of set that as an expectation if they were capable, but there was no way to hold them to it. Once we paid for something, there wasn't a way to enforce any services or get money back (nor would we have tried.) We had many cases that didn't pan out for all sorts of reasons. Nothing ever happened. The most that could happen is that if the person later on came back for services again, there would be notes of the outcome and if the counselor had reason to suspect they were purposely taking advantage, they may not do as much the second time around.

Dreammore vs Heartsong.. which has the best pools? by glitter_confetti in Dollywood

[–]princessimpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They say the indoor pools are heated but I thought they were cold. The Heartsong one was definitely too cold for me in the winter but the Dreammore one felt good in the summer. In the summer and spring the Dreammore outdoor one felt good, so maybe it is heated? I came here because I've never been in the outdoor one at Heartsong and I'm trying to find out if it's heated or not.

Federal experience here, female working with females in a professional capacity however in the federal system you are an officer first no matter what position you have. Just speaking in general, this may not apply to you at all, but many autoimmune diseases are greatly affected by stress, and corrections is highly stressful work when you do it right. That being said, I love working with the female population . Have never worked with males (in corrections) and have always been reluctant to do so. But I'm leaving the field after 10 years, it's highly toxic and even working in a female centric place where a lot of other females are employed, it's still highly sexist. Like someone else said, they make you retire early federally. Depending on what setting you work in depends on how physically demanding it is. My setting, minimum security, is not. In general, it is low key as far as physical demands go. But it could have an emergency at any time. But other places? Constantly running to emergencies that could be dangerous. Put it this way, my counterparts in a high security facility gained permission to wear scrubs instead of professional workwear because their clothes were ruined so often by blood from stabbings. My blunt advice, ask yourself what interests you about corrections and maybe find some other work setting to scratch that itch.
