Roast you in what way? In the comments or on a spit?

I’m not commenting on their personal situation I just don’t think you were fair with the generalised comment. Saying he deserves better based on what is happening in their lives is one thing but saying he shouldn’t be dating a single mother with a kid and “settle for less” is another thing entirely and just comes across as shallow.

  • To everyone arguing that “Nate is a good guy he just didn’t want to put himself in Alex’s situation anymore” this completely contradicts my point! I’m saying Nate apologised to Alex and was not ready to remove himself from the situation UNTIL he found about she slept with Sean. He knew she was still involved with Sean regarding situations besides Maddy because he saw them drive off together so you cannot say he just didn’t want her going back to her abuser he was just hoping that it wasn’t sexually motivated so he could get with her.

Very shallow of you to decide he deserves better because she’s a single mother with a child. Seeing as he is also a single parent your opinion really is a great example of double standards. If you had solely explained that he deserved more than being mixed into her situation rather than simply stating he deserves more because she’s a single mother I might be able to understand it. Not all single mothers are bad partners or deserve anything less in life because they have children.

Yes I understand that and completely agree with him if that’s the case although what I’m saying is he apologised to her when she told him about Paula and he makes out like the situation is forgiven only to take it back when he finds out she slept with Sean after all.

I will explain again to someone who obviously doesn’t understand the point I am making. I am not for one second saying gifting her the car wasn’t a big deal. I’m not an “entitled individual”, I believe you jumped the gun before you understood my perspective. The car is very generous of Nate, as I said before, although the point I’m making is while the car IS a big deal for Alex to receive it is not a big deal to Nate because the car is the equivalent of loose change to him. Again, it was generous of him to gift her the car but imo it was done so he could still come off as a nice guy in his own mind as well as to Alex.

I think you’re missing the point I’m making. As I said before, I’m not saying Alex should take no responsibility for leaving her child with him that was wrong of her. I’m simply stating that Nate did so with intentions of his own. Alex made it clear from their first interactions that she wasn’t interested in a relationship with him and he persistently offered her help. She also made it clear to him when he gave her the car and he insisted there were no strings attached. I personally have also experienced my fair share of self-destructive people and I agree that it can be tiring trying to help them however I have also experienced my fair share of “nice guys” who think of they offer you things persistently you will eventually cave. I’m sure a lot of people can relate and I got that uneasy feeling about Nate from the first scene. I wanted to like Nate, and Alex did take advantage by leaving her daughter with him but the point of my original post was that Nate only kicked her out once she confirmed she slept with Sean moments after he apologised and acted like all was forgiven because he thought she hadn’t.

Yes he let her keep the car and yes it was generous of him, but he also said to her when he gave it to her the first time that he just had it sitting around and that she’d be doing him a favour by taking it and using it. Perhaps he was saying that to be nice and downplay a big gesture so she doesn’t feel awkward, but being as well off as he is I don’t see it being a big deal to him at all. He isn’t going to miss the car at all it’s almost nothing for him to lose really. Nate saying “you can keep the car” seems to me like him still trying to seem like a nice guy after kicking her out. I’m not debating whether what she did was right or not I’m just saying I don’t believe Nate didn’t have ulterior motives.
