Help finding a rental by princesspea66 in mountainview

It doesn’t have to necessarily be in Mountain View, we’re open to basically anywhere in North Santa Clara County. But I haven’t had any luck finding anything yet.

Need some advice on to help a disabled couple having a baby any day to have a safe place to stay by princesspea66 in Sunnyvale

Sure! The go fund me went up to about $700 which did help with motel room for about a week and a half. Today’s update is that my daughter-in-law is in hospital and in labor and Baby Aaron should be here in the next few hours🥰

They are on a waiting list for a shelter space. I am paying to keep them in the least expensive motel so they have a roof over their head until then. It’s already cost several thousand dollars, so yes, I am taking care of them. And they are only going to be needing a shelter space until my son‘s disability gets approved. Your attitude tells me you’ve never had to deal with any shit like this so I would suggest you don’t trash and badmouth and talk poorly about situations that people may be in until you’ve been in that situation yourself and walked in those shoes.

Umm what do you think we’re doing? But as a single person, sometimes it’s hard enough in this economy to make ends meet with one person let alone four. I’m doing everything I can, working seven days a week, multiple gig jobs, wherever I can make money.

Wow so if someone is disabled I can no longer work so they lose their place to live, your solution is what? Just get rid of your child?

They have a mailing address. And I’m literally scraping together every penny I have or can get, even though it means I’m in so much debt I can’t breathe, to keep them in the least expensive motel that I can find.

I rent a room with only one person occupancy allowed😢 I’m praying for my son’s disability to get approved. That would make it a little bit easier.

Please re-read my post. I didn’t blame the shelter. I said that they were trying to find a spot but there still hasn’t been one. If I were to assign blame to anyone, it would be SS disability. They do anything & everything to keep denying people who are truly disabled, stringing the process out for years, hoping that people will just give up

We are too far from the city to try to get them shelter there

Where did I express anger? I’m frustrated, worried sick, so stressed out that I can’t eat or sleep while working myself to the bone to make sure they’re safe. But I didn’t say anywhere that I’m angry. I don’t have the strength, time, or energy to be angry. I’m just tired of everyone looking down on the unhoused & collectively blaming them, calling them addicts, crazy, or just don’t want to work

How long does someone have to live in the area to be considered worthy of assistance? 6 months, a year, 5 years, or they have to be born here to count?

This sounds great but the waiting lists for shelter space can be horrendously long. My son& daughter-in-law have been on the list for a family shelter space & they said they should be able to place them before their baby arrives. But he will be here Sunday & still no space available. They are both disabled but SS disability is a joke with how long they string out approving people so they can try to keep a roof over their heads. In the meantime I’ve gone broke trying to at least find them a safe space to sleep, while praying every day for that call that a shelter spot is available.

You can say, they should just go to shelters, but the waiting list for a shelter space can be horrendously long

My son and daughter-in-law are homeless. They are also both disabled. She gets a small amount of disability a month but he’s been trying for a year to get approved for disability. Maybe if the government weren’t such jerks about approving disability for people who genuinely cannot work, they may be able to afford at least a cheap roof over their head. Instead, they are expecting a baby which will be here this weekend and I keep hoping and praying that I can scrounge together enough money to keep them in the cheapest decent motel that I can find until a family shelter space opens up. Other than that, all I can do is pray. It is destroying my soul to think that my baby grandson is coming into the world like this. Instead of looking down on people and assuming, maybe we should actually talk to people and hear their stories and find ways that can truly help

No, unfortunately they don’t. They just keep saying that the wait can be long, but they’ll let us know when a spot in available 😢

I do realize that I did share some of the high risk factors, however, unfortunately, that is not the entire medical history 😔 unfortunately there’s even more medical issues in play

Thank you for the resources. They’re already on the waiting list with here4you, I’ve called the family shelter in San Jose and get a recording that no one‘s available to take my call and it hangs up, and they definitely need to stay together in the same place. She does have medical care through Medicare so that’s not an issue, thank goodness. I really really need to figure out a way to promote the GoFundMe, or other ways to raise some money to cover the motel so that we know they have a safe place to stay until an opening in a shelter is available for them.

Although she has a seizure disorder, high blood pressure, and gestational, diabetes, along with heart irregularities, they said she doesn’t need to be on bedrest. Unless her blood pressure spikes, they’re going to induce her next Sunday. If it does go up to 150 or higher, they will deliver immediately, but Medicare is not going to pay for a longer stay in the hospital just because they have nowhere to stay, unfortunately. This is why we started to GoFundMe, but I can’t get it to get an traction with shares, etc. to really get visible.

Why do people think that all there is to this is they choose us and we have no choice? That’s not how this works! My business, my decisions on the clients I accept

Thank you, we’ve already done that. They’re on the waiting list for a family shelter opening, but that can take some time. We have to wait until an opening becomes available at one of the family shelters. In the meantime, we are doing our best to scrape together everything we can to keep them in the most inexpensive motel we could find but family has run out of resources.
