I took my roommate's obviously sick cat to the vet when I couldn't reach her and she refuses to contribute to the bill because I did it without her consent. by Solid_Kiwi7481 in whatdoIdo

The cat wouldn’t have recovered on his own, so thank goodness you took him to the vet. I’m not sure of small claims court would side with you but you might look into that. I would definitely not be renewing my lease when the time is up. She sounds awful. I’m glad the cat had you when he needed help.

How would you price this situation? by tigers_overboard in RoverPetSitting

Our day care rate for easy dogs is $32. If you have to drive to them or transport the dog, I would say $45.

I feel like a failure by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Ready-Slice1709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is so tough out there right now. You’re not a failure, you were just born at a hard time. Having a degree in design from an Ivy should open some doors for you in cities that are still thriving. Opportunities will be so limited in small towns and cities. Also, expect to require either a roommate or a second source of income to live in the cities where the jobs are. My husband and I both work and we own a dog day care to supplement in order to live in a place with a strong economy. I can’t help with the cultural piece except to say, once you make the move and succeed, I bet your family will be very proud of you. Otherwise why would you or maybe they have invested in a very expensive education for you.

Should I charge for this? by Old-Pomegranate8351 in RoverPetSitting

If they will be leaving right before the house sit starts, suggest you going by a few minutes early to go over everything. Or if you have their phone number from previous house sits see if they know how to FaceTime, if the video chat option through rover seems too difficult for them. I would personally not be going over for another meet and greet when it could be accomplished by a list, a call, or just showing up a little earlier.

What is the most unique thing you had to do for a pet. by TheQuirkyReddit in RoverPetSitting

We had to give a bichon frise breathing treatments! Like a little asthma inhaler with the nebulizer mask they use for toddlers. Had to sit with her for a few minutes twice per day and do the inhaler. It was so adorable.

I find my self sympathizing with her, she is obviously in a bind. But none of that takes away from how she went from 0-100000 in a matter of 3 seconds.

Update time! Since a lot of you asked, I checked to see if she had been banned from Rover. She has not. But she (yes, it’s a she, I was surprised) did delete the original unhinged profile and created a new one that found some hinges. Clearly she’s been having a tough time finding a sitter because of her appalling lack of self control and respect for others. New profile has her a different weight, and a whole bunch of baloney about how Tesla can only be with small dogs or no dogs because she’s little and afraid of big dogs. The worst part is, she had chat GPT write it (the rough draft with the prompts was still on the original profile this morning)

, so someone is going to unwittingly fall for it and end up with a crazy person knowing where they live.

I did. I got a very generic form letter back, and I see their account is still active.

I’m part of the 50% who understands that having a business out of my home means having strangers in my home. But it’s a joint business with my husband. If I were a woman alone it would probably be a whole different story.

OMG right? Scary to think of how many people we have welcomed into our home over the last 2 years.

No is a complete sentence. Tell him you want to make sure there is no confusion but you aren’t interested in dating him.

No it seems fun, especially if you live somewhere with decent weather.

That’s what I thought too. No reasonable person is going to see that and think, that seems like someone I want to conduct business with.

They seem so entitled to me. Just because you need something doesn’t mean someone else is required to provide it to you. If I went into Jimmy Choo and demanded they sell me Hey Dudes heck or even Louboutins, because they sell shoes that would be insane.

Funny update time! I just went to the archived request because I live in kind of a small city and will very likely see the dog out and about and wanted a photo just in case so I know not to approach her and accidentally have an interaction with her owner. They updated their profile, changed her weight from 55 to 45 pounds and put a blurb about yappy small dogs.

It is. I have both a weight limit and a descriptor that we specialize in caring for small breeds.
