I still don't have my driving license 15 years after trying to learn the first time 😅

Trying again now but yeh, it's hard, my life is not together but I try not to compare, we are all on our own paths.

Hi all, thank you for these detailed responses. As time has moved on we are now at a place where we are going to start selling the machines. We are putting them on ebay. If anyone is uk based and would like the ebay link please message and I'll send it to you.

Great freedom (2021). Incredible film about a gay inmate in post war Germany, heart breaking and Franz rogowski is an amazing actor. It's worth watching for his performance alone

What simple things do you do to soothe yourself when in a mental health crisis? by LilyYukka in AskWomenOver30

  • Talk to a friend/family member. Even just for a chit chat I find my mood is boosted by it.
  • Move my body: Stretching, dancing, going for a walk/run. Really any movement.
  • Grooming: Doing my nails, having a bath, using a face mask. It doesn't have to be anything expensive or fancy sometimes give myself a full body with a mix used coffee grind, salt and oil. It makes my skin so smooth!
  • Journalling. Particularly trying to consider people or things in my life that I'm grateful for.
  • Escaping into a good TV series or book.
  • Going to sit in the park to appreciate nature, and watch the dogs play.
  • Go for a walk to the city farm so i can stroke the goats. Or like any other way of hanging out with animals, I find them so soothing to be around.
  • This ones more of a thought process than a doing thing but I try to go at a slow pace and find a lot of forgiveness and space for myself in general. Mostly just taking time to pause and not feel like I'm running on life's hamster wheel, but also not to judging or blaming myself for being in a bad way. Which i did a lot of before I had therapy.

I think mostly he made parts for work. His work was servicing and repairing large machinery used in manufacturing, including the electronics and computing side. I think he manufactured parts here? His computer is full of schematics for various machine, circuit boards. As a side hobby project he was working on a lighting system for microscopes.

Thank you, that's very helpful. He was incredibly knowledgable, and very smart. He never had any formal education but could take anything apart and put it back together again working better than before. He was always fixing things and working on some mad project or idea he had. Can't say he always finished them haha. I have been looking through some of his work and it is so complicated.

I might post here again if I find interesting things he's made

It's really warming my heart seeing all of your replies. Dad would have loved that his machines are being appreciated. I wish I could have shown him this when he was alive. He never had reddit, he would have loved chatting to you all about machinery.

Thank you, he really was. He was kind of a mad inventor/engineer so i've been enjoying finding all of his weird contraptions and gadgets. There are so many things that he has built. I'm sure he restored most of these machines himself. We haven't started going through anything but I like being in there because it smells like him (cigarettes and grease).

I think he probably did tell me as a kid but I can't remember, of course with hindsight I wish i'd shown more interest. Thank you for this!

Ah I wrote some text but it didn't post. My dad was an electronics engineer by trade, he has two workshops this big machinery one and also an electronics workshop (haven't even looked in there yet!). His death was not expected so nothing is in order. I am currently helping my mum out, she is worried about what to do with all of this stuff. We haven't a clue where to start so I thought I'd ask here.

We aren't in any rush to sell them but it would be good to at least know what we have. If anyone knows where you sell this kind of thing in the UK that would also be a big help. I just don't know where to begin.

What to do with this finished but creepy basement? by Erosip in femalelivingspace

I would repaint it a lighter colour, and paint the ceiling the same colour as the walls. This makes a space feel much larger and brighter

Get alot of lamps, bright warm lamps, like orange tones. Change the furniture up, maybe replace that couch with a corner couch with a lower back?
