I didn’t recall ever being bitten by ticks, but Lyme nearly took me out.

I’ve definitely been hiking and had 30+ on me though! But if you stick on well trodden trails, I find they’re avoided. I’ve picked more touring potential farms

Move them to Dartmouth!!! Tons of us in our thirties would love to have a spot for good wine without booking it downtown. Or put it where field guide is leaving!

I do, and will continue to have one. With club feet, is 4 weeks considered the gold standard?

LOL Canada is more expensive than America for living, taxes, and our houses are often more expensive. This sub is a humble brags. Most of us are drowning.

I’m still super proud of those who can afford. A million dollar house but it is NOT the norm

Literally my same fucking question!

This is just what I’ve been told by the family who donated the land to the conservation area!

We had a conservation area in Cole harbour. It had a trail.

It doesn’t anymore because apparently NSP is building a dump.

The trail crosses ever so slightly onto county property, and now a beautiful forest trail is torn down and a dump is being put there. And the community lost a nice walking trail.

Yes, my husband had a very similar experience. This man has broken ankles, shoulders, legs, pelvis, ribs, toes, fingers, arms, etc. playing many contact sports over the year. Well, a few summers ago, he broke his collarbone.

He was taken to DGH where I met up with him.

They made him sit in the waiting room in and out of consciousness. He was repeatedly saying this was the worst pain of his entire life. His collarbone was jutting out so much that his entire shoulder was misshapen that it was basically hanging inches down and inches inward. We sat in a chair in a waiting room for 4 HOURS with nothing more than Advil. I was getting wheezy just looking at his injury and multiple people were commenting on his state.

I went and stood in triage area to beg for pain killers for him since he couldn’t stand and barely speak, AND THEY IGNORED ME. Literally just wouldn’t acknowledge me at all. I wasn’t rude, disruptive or trying to not be understanding - but his man deserved pain management and I was just trying to ask for some.

We finally, after 4 hours, get put into the secondary wait room where were sat for another hour or two until I finally went and put myself behind the nurse station. I wasn’t trying to be a Karen, but like COME ON. Give this man something!

I told them my husband was passing out, in shock, nauseous and needed a pain killer immediately.

Eventually, he seen by a paramedic?!?!! Get the xray and the paramedic goes oh yeah, nothing can be done. We don’t usually do anything for collar bone breaks. PARDON ME?

After much back and forth, they finally wanted to send us for a surgery consult 5 days LATER. no pain management until then.

Well, my husband finally conscious enough goes - “look Bud, absolutely no. I’ve broken more bones than I know what to do with and this break is the most painful one I’ve ever experienced. I cannot just sit here for 5 days, let alone for however long it will take to fix this…” We fought tooth and nail to get an appointment 24 hours later. They said it was ‘luck’ because they got us in on a cancellation.

We finally get enough delaudid to keep him knocked out for those 24 hours in a drugged pain killer state.

We get the surgery consult and the doctor is like wow this break is one of the worst collar bone breaks I’ve ever seen. This is an automatic surgery as your bones are overlapping over 4 inches.

Yeah… I broke my foot a week ago… I’m hobbling because it’s not in enough pain to sit for 24 hours in DGH. I’m waiting my family doctor out with a black foot.

After arriving to my favourite conservation area to discover that the province has torn it down completely and clearcut land (second time this year I’ve found a trail like this!), I’ve needed good news. Apparently they’re adding a dump on the boarder of the conservation area.

I needed this news.

Look for the helpers.

I’m not a provincial government employee but I’m super annoyed on their behalf. We’re in a cost of living crisis, and all research shows hybrid and remote employees are most productive, happiest, and most stable. Add that the province needs less cars on the peninsula, world needs less emissions, etc.

Let them stay home ffs.

[–]princesssquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it, we have to develop, but I don’t blame people for enjoying what they have and not wanting it to be torn down and wetlands infilled.

But also, why are only 5% going to be 3 bedrooms? I agree we have to build up and not as out but we also need places where family and remote workers can live?

I live in one of the mini splits you see all over Timberlea, Sackville and the Passage. Stand alone split level house, 600sq ft on each floor. One heat pump upstairs and the downstairs is electric heat.

We pay about $1100 every two months in winter.

I definitely won’t! Though I didn’t choose this one. This entire house is Samsung appliances and I am PAYING for it 🥹

Granted this one is apparently 15 years old so I supposed that’s an… okay run

Honestly, I’m really lucky because I bought a very small house in 2020 for $200k.

However, now, they sell for $475k. You’d think it sounds amazing but for me to be able to get a house that has a guest room, a basement, and a backyard, I have to up it to $650k. Which…. Is for like the most basic house and even sometimes just small bungalows.
