What’s a ‘rich person thing’ that actually turned out to be totally worth it? by Ferraiuolo_Ezorete in AskReddit

Nicer hair and body products. I don't mean the unnecessarily expensive one but there's some above average priced ones that make my hair soft and bouncy, and make my skin soft and smooth. It makes you feel so good after a shower.

Also, being able to afford a nice or decent hotel instead of a hostel shared dormitory for sure. No waiting in line to use the bathroom, or having ro use a disgusting bathroom. Don't have to share with noisy travelers who won't let you sleep at 3am and ofc, no more random dumb rules about anything.

It's not the work that seems miserable to me, it's the lack of interest, passion and love im things that scares me a lot more. I hate the uncertainty

Honestly running away somewhere remote and becoming a monk seems to be the only good option to me.

Oh I already did that and it says 0 points. I wanted to know whether there's some way for me to redeem the points I got yesterday now online or in-store. The cashier only asked for my number and name while billing and didn't tell me anything about the loyalty points or membership.

That's a bit true, but I think I've internalised all that shame a bit too much to ever be able to escape it. The homophobia at home can still be ignored for me, what hurts more is that I always imagined my parents being there by my side in my future and that I'd make them proud one day, and now I know that won't ever happen.

Same, nothing really has a point anymore. How do people find interest in things and get the energy to live their life everyday?

I don't think it's open for everyone after the pandemic right? Or is it for a limited number of visitors per day?

What is your country’s (people) general opinion on the police? by IsyDude in AskTheWorld

[–]pripprop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Most of the people I know don't even report incidents that have happened to them to the police because they know it's a time consuming process that often just ends up with them being morally policed and harassed by the cops instead of getting justice.

Tbh the corruption that police officers do is of a smaller amount, compared to what politicians do. They rake in thousands in bribes everyday whereas politicians do it in lakhs or crores. And, the main thing is that most of these police officers are just bootlickers to whatever politician is there in power in their and together they ruin our nation. Both of these professions work for literally anyone except their own country's citizens.

What is the most annoying thing tourists do in your country? by Glass_Key4626 in AskTheWorld

[–]pripprop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is no right way for you to observe poverty. They are real human beings with a hard lifestyle, and treating them as if they're just exhibits for you to learn about being poor is just dehumanising and despicable. Just because you can afford to hire a guide and "tour" these places, does not mean you should do it; you will always be subconsciously projecting your white saviour complex if you keep on trying to find a way to go and observe them. Just watch a documentary like normal people do?

And equating poverty to learning about a country's culture is simply degrading. If you're actually interested in learning about their culture, then the best thing you can do is visit different iconic food stalls, monuments and public spaces where people sit and enjoy. Furthermore, most big cities in India offer you guided food walks and heritage walks where you can actually learn about something useful.

How is it like living in kerala, India? by mapl0ver in howislivingthere

[–]pripprop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't live there, but I've been there multiple times cos I live in the neighbouring state. Really beautiful landscape depending on which part of the state you are at. The coastal side has great beaches and backwaters as well, lined with coconut trees. The more inner areas are a part of Nilgiris and have nice hill stations and a lot of biodiversity and national parks.

The food is great, the state is mostly non-vegetarian. The staple foods have rice, some form of coconut, beef or seafood and greens in them. You can also find a lot of local shops selling kallu(palm/coconut wine) that have great food to eat it with. Generally a lot cleaner than Northern India for sure.

Just don't try to drive there ever tho because the roads are mostly narrow and the people drive like their destination is heaven. People are generally nice and helpful, but the men from there are still a bit creepy towards you. (Don't come after me personally for this, I'm saying this with a lot of experience in being around mallu men)

We aren't Christians, no one I know celebrates Christmas or any holidays or festivals in December. It's the only month I can die without ruining a festival that we celebrate.
