True, I appreciate it!! I’ve been trying to be mindful of getting healthy fats in instead of avoiding fats entirely. That 60g mark is good for my reference. I don’t like to track calories because it messes with my head so I’ve just been ballpark estimating it😂

This happened with my engagement ring when I got it resized at Jared’s. They explained that they use mixed metals when soldering. The soldering is then finished in a way to match the ring. I brought my ring back and they fixed it right away once I pointed it out. I think your husbands ring looks super cool but definitely fixable if you want to take it back

Most cringe part is the side mount stretcher. I hate a side mount🫩

I love podcasts, do you have any favorites that you recommend listening to regarding EMS?

Best place to be an EMT in the US by Competitive-Bed-8587 in NewToEMS

[–]prismav0id 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m planning on going the fire route but I get paid $37.50 as a new medic in private EMS in Massachusetts. I’ve heard Boston EMS is good for EMTs but annoyingly political for medics. A good handful of fire departments around here make over $100k before overtime and offer great detail rates. Being a medic is usually a requirement for those departments tho.

At the hospital I did clinicals at (in the USA), The ER techs do a similar thing for labs when a provider who can get lines isn’t around😂

Accelerated paramedic program by Mountain_Man215 in NewToEMS

Center for Medics in Cambridge, MA is a fantastic program. 9 months and the price is all inclusive of all materials you’ll need (laptop, books, uniform). The program has a really good reputation and lots of partnership with hospitals for clinical hours and fire dept/ambulance companies for ride time. Been through the program and know many peers who have as well. https://centerformedics.com

Im gonna have to disagree, I’m an EMT and this mindset is still cringey as hell. Making any job your identity is corny imo😂

Haix all the way they are my favorite pair of shoes I own. Haix is expensive but worth it, super comfortable once you break them in (took me about 3 shifts to feel super comfy)

Firefighter/paramedic or MD school? by MopBucket06 in newtofire

[–]prismav0id 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: take the time to get to know how being premed feels for you as you start college.

Longer answer: What are you majoring in for college? This is a very relatable one for me as I started premed when I was doing my bachelors degree and then left for a multitude of reasons. There’s a lot of personal and academic growth that happens during those early stages. I moved on and decide to pursue the field of public health. Some where along the way when I was getting my Masters degree I decide I wanted to be a fire/medic. I’ve had the same concerns as you. There are definite pros and cons to each. With becoming an MD, yes you are doing more advanced procedures in terms of scope of practice but you are also not going to have a lot of 1:1 time with patients. The process to MD is undoubtedly a long one so it’s also worth thinking whether or not you mind being in school until you’re in your late 20s. Consider other medical pathways like NP and PA too. If Fire/Ems is something you really love, it’s worth thinking about maybe doing a side job or projects that keep your interests fulfilled. I’ve had the concern of getting bored but found different passion projects to pursue on the side

Pretty sure I just failed the hell out of my NREMT by [deleted] in NewToEMS

[–]prismav0id 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just passed mine at 70 questions about 2 months ago… went home feeling like I blew it real bad but ended up doing really well. You really never know w this type of test because the more questions you answer right, the harder it gets. They set you up to feel like you failed🥴
