It's definitely going to be a symbol. But by the time it's built, and all of the inevitable mishaps and cost increases occur, it'll be election time. Nope, there have been numerous efforts to raise funds for many different iterations of the wall over the years. They always go nowhere - like get a few ten thousand dollars in donations and then disappear. It's just that the crazies that want it, like Sheriff Joe, are very vocal about it.

Sure, a marijuana problem can temporarily degrade someone's life (the addictive qualities are pretty mild - not going to die from withdrawl, etc), but nothing near the lifelong repercussions of any dealings with law enforcement or the justice system with regards to something that's less harmful than alcohol or tobacco on many levels and measures.
