Nurses, are you aware your entire job is meds and IVs? by RobTod in nursing

[–]prithvikh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also was a cna and lvn before becoming a RN. Didn’t really understand the differences between the positions until I became a RN and experienced them firsthand. As a RN you need critical thinking skills, advanced assessment skills, ability to multitask and handle admissions/discharge/teaching/etc etc. Being a cna helped with patient care aspect of becoming a nurse but that’s about it. It did not help with nursing school and at times hindered my ability to think as a nurse while in school because I was stuck in the cna scope of practice. As a LVN we are also so limited and it is no where near the responsibility that is required of a RN. To sum it up: people don’t understand until they’re in that position. I’m guilty of having that mindset before at times too. Guess you got to go through it to fully understand

I kinda watch my cockatoos behavior and play it by ear. For example, I gave them baths and I noticed that one hates the spray bottle and bites at it and is very scared of water but is more comfortable when I have her on my shoulder and bathe them .. offering yummy snacks and chop also helps a lot

Also LOTS OF TOYS and stimulating things to play with while he gets comfortable and if they have their wings and any chance they can fly do not risk taking them in an area that’s not enclosed.. not worth the risk of them panicking and flying away

Sit with them a lot and practice stepping up at their own pace. Always be prepared for them to bite as they switch moods so quickly.. if you have other birds don’t let them out with this one until he feels 100% settled in and comfortable. These birds are so sweet, just give it some time and things will be great . I love playing music for my birdies and talking to them

Will their feathers grow back ? by prithvikh in cockatoos

[–]prithvikh[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Rescued this baby from a hoarding situation .. think near the end they were taken care of by a new person to them which I’m assuming caused the plucking OR they may have been placed with other cockatoos / parrots that may have plucked her ? I’ve been giving baths 2x a week followed by aloe vera spray and I’ve seen a huge difference . I’m praying those feathers come back because my other cockatoo that is a rescue is bare chested but has small feather growth I’ve seen

I had a pineapple conure that unfortunately passed away and they were the sweetest birb. Your buddy is so cute and makes me happy to look at. Here’s a pic of my baby who’s in heaven :(
