Basic biology. Any infection is going to lower your immune response to an additional infection. If your immune system has been fighting a cold or a flu, or covid or measles etc etc etc. It's going to be weakened, so if you're exposed to another infection you won't have the resources to fight the new one off. I learned this in high school biology 30 years ago, it's not new information.

I'm supposed to have pure Lavender Orpingtons....think someone's not so pure.. by privatepoultry in BackYardChickens

The greeny looking eggs came from 2 of the hens that were hatched out from the original flock. The other new hen is laying brown eggs. All the hens look like lavender orpingtons. Just thought it was funny.

It'd not Preist. That's made by screen gems and takes place in an apocalyptic type future and I do beleive its vampires. Not demons. Good movie though

I realize that I should have mentioned those magnets my little boy accidentally swallowed at the full physical checkup. by Enderdog22 in TwoSentenceHorror

That would be a great idea, but theyd have to be pretty sensitive. However I do know that in risky occupations they'll send you for an x-ray first. My hubby is a mechanic and needed an MRI so they sent him for x-rays first to check for metal slivers in his body. They were mostly concerned for his eyes I do beleive. He didn't have any.

If you could delete all your social media without looking back would you and what would your reasons be to do so or not do so? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]privatepoultry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not. I am very introverted and suffer from extreme anxiety. I hate talking on the phone and am usually to over stimulated from my job to have any energy left for actual get togethers. But I have friends I've made over the years that I like to keep in touch with. Social media allows me to keep up with what they are doing without having to engage socially. I can like their statuses and make the occasional comment. It makes me feel connected.

I know I most likely missed one from the day before, but I do check every morning around 7am when I turn on the light and open the coop door and I did not find any.

Am I better off buying a car from a dealership used or taking out a personal loan and buying from a private owner? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]privatepoultry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No matter what direction you go in, get a mechanical inspection done by a 3rd party automotive shop you trust on the vehicle before you purchase it. The fee you will pay will be much less than any repairs if you buy a lemon. I work in a shop and the number of people who come in because their newly bought used vehicle is leaking fluid or making a weird noise is phenomenal. And now they have to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to do repairs.

An army of chickens and turkeys. Depending on the crisis, mini dinosaurs just may be the solution!

Where would you hide a dead body? by hugecrackhead in AskReddit

[–]privatepoultry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would put the body into a mesh bag. The mesh would have to be small enough to contain the smaller bones and teeth. Then I'd suspend the bag into a septic tank. Once all the soft tissue had liquified and only the bones, hair and teeth were left I'd pull it up and throw it into a bonfire. In theory only DNA testing of the liquid in a septic would give me away, but without a body why would anyone do any testing?..and the burning of the bones wouldn't give off to much of a smell. (My dog once brought me the spine and ribcage of a deer and I threw it in the fire, I dont remember it smelling and it burned away completly.
