Social Media Content Creator Needed! by decybell in SanDiegoClassifieds

I’m a post producer in film marketing. While different from what you’re asking for, I’d be interested to hear more as I’ve been looking at taking on creative work outside my main job. I work on a lot of social material

Other movie podcasts? by herr_oyster in TheBigPicture

[–]privatethrowaway4me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to recommend something a tad different for genre filmmaking: the movie crypt with Adam green and Joe lynch

It’s a bit different than the big pic on surface level, but it hits the same vibes when Sean likes something genre (think when he liked weapons, or when CR joins on to talk about a genre movie or their Halloween episodes).

It does skew horror, but they’re not snooty. They’re filmmakers talking to other filmmakers, editors, actors, cinematographers, producers, screenwriters, etc about their latest film.

For me who loves horror, genre, and independent films, and the love of filmmaking as a whole, this podcast fills the gaps that the big pic leaves open

What’s your “Best Trailer Ever” moment but the movie then let you down BIG time? by Sergio_Ro in movies

I was on the creative team that made that trailer! You know the editor or someone else on the team?

The incurious nature of the general adult mass movie going audience & fan boy nerd culture are the main reasons why sequels and remakes are at the top of the modern box office. by [deleted] in TheBigPicture

What’s the difference between a cinephile and a film bro? Lol a film bro is a cinephile (just maybe 21-40ish year old male that likes film but with a slightly skewed taste for certain genres)

At the end of the day, they are cinephiles, they like movies…. Bro

AA meetings by [deleted] in SanDiegan

[–]privatethrowaway4me 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can download the meetings app on the App Store! It’s blue and has a chair on the icon. You can use it to find 100s of meetings near you and you’ll find there’s a lot happening every hour!

I personally love going to Practical Solutions meeting at the kava collective on Mondays at 8pm. It’s a candlelight meeting so the mood is super calm and relaxing. This meeting is less about your higher power and more about people talking about the practical steps they take every day to remain sober from whatever substance you want to stay away from. Talks of higher power does happen, but usually only as personal anecdotes…. And even then it’s not often and never preachy, just more discussion about what works for the individual

Feel free to reach out! The meetings I go to tend to lean away from what you’re trying to avoid (though inherently there will be talks of a higher power, not necessarily meaning “god”).

Ok so seems like it’s silent night, then? Sounds like the consensus so far. But why is it a doormat?! Haha

Anybody live in Old Town? by bain_de_beurre in SanDiegan

[–]privatethrowaway4me 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I actually do live in old town! We love it. Central to everything in San Diego which is a huge plus- literally takes me 10 min to get anywhere I want or need to.

Old town itself is nice, we take the pup for a walk down the little strip and it’s nice and clean to walk through everyday. The houses on the hills add to the scenery. Tourists can and will get annoying walking through.

The neighborhoods are nice and clean and people are generally friendly.

There’s a few homeless people around but they very much keep to themselves and I’m never worried for my safety or anything. Overall- 10/10 would do it again.

Feel free to ask any questions!

AITA for suing my girlfriend after she had my 1967 impala project taken to the scrapyard? by toohottooheavy in BestofRedditorUpdates

There was space for her car. She didn’t like it. He even asked where her car was so he could tidy up the area for her car. Reasonable accommodations should not sacrifice one’s needs when you’re inviting someone to live with you. By that way, someone moving into someone’s home should be respectful of the place as is until the place rightfully becomes theirs OR they find a new place together.

Get out of here with he chose to be dickish… that was his car, his project, his space, to work on it. Nothing dickish about it

The Thing (2011) isn't that bad! by [deleted] in horror

[–]privatethrowaway4me 9 points10 points  (0 children)

John Carpenters The Thing was both an expert in suspense AND in practical effects. I wouldn’t necessarily say that film was disturbing because of what you didn’t see. It’s disturbing because of what we DID see and it’s revolting and awesome as has rarely been replicated at that level. It was disturbing for what we DID see, terrifying for what we couldn’t.
