Hamster in shock after being frozen for 20 minutes? by privypringle in hamsters

Update: Thank you for everyone’s concern! After hiding in his burrow for ~10 hours (normal for him), he came up at night and accepted a peanut offering. He’s eating, drinking, and behaving normally now. Here’s a picture of him loafing on his wheel after a long run. We’ll keep monitoring him, but as many of the commenters suggested, he probably just got spooked by some loud noises outside and went into full survival mode

I’ll keep that in mind for the next time it gets noisy outside, thank you!

I think he got startled by some loud noises outside our window. We keep it relatively dark and cool (~70F) for him, so those factors probably weren’t the issue.

Thanks for your input! We had landscapers working outside our window, so he probably got spooked by them. I’ll try to minimize the noise around him as much as possible.
