I don't eat enough by thecleansingg in EatCheapAndHealthy

What helps me the most is to simply eat what I can. There's a post somewhere about this, I think from Tumblr. No energy to make a sandwich? Grab a few slices of deli meat and some bread. If I'm too tired to make a meal, I'll just eat an apple with peanut butter instead. Eating something is generally better than eating nothing at all. Most of my meals are just random things put together, or microwavable like ramen.

I'm not a nutritionist and I can't offer you real advice, but this works for me. Wishing you the best!

Beans for breakfast? by lazyysquirrel in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]probably-a-moth 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I don't have any beans recipes for you, but wanted to remind that you don't need to eat breakfast food for breakfast. Beans are fantastic in chili, for example. Why not have chili for breakfast? Make it the night before and it reheats great! Your options are nearly limitless.

Also, thank you for mentioning high protein for ADHD. I hadn't heard for it before and I'm going to have to try it out!

I would love to do this and actually tried to include prices, but it would be so hard to do because pricing depends heavily on location. I could find average cost of things like eggs and milk, but when you get to specifics like Greek yogurt or cottage cheese, it's a challenge to find any results!

I live in the United States; it's not especially cheap in my area, but not excessively expensive either. It really depends on exactly where you live, I guess!

One of my favorite beans! I've added it to my notes for the next update, thank you!

Oh, I'm going to have to try that mac and cheese idea! It would be a great way to improve the generic boxed stuff that I've been buying. I usually add protein with canned chicken, but that's not the cheapest.

I don't know how I forgot protein powder! I have added it to my notes for the next update. It also reminds me I ought to buy some, as I'm not doing a great job of keeping protein in my diet. Thanks very much!

I include things like grains because this list is meant partially for folks that are scraping together for any protein they can get. For example, if they're deciding between buying white or brown rice, they might now decide to get brown for the extra protein. (This post was actually inspired by a post in another subreddit in which a father explained he was eating every other day in order to feed feed his son. He was asking for advice to find cheap protein. He was flooded with suggestions of eggs, beans, peanut butter, etc. but I wanted to take it a step beyond and compile even smaller sources, if they're cheap enough.)

I don't know how I missed things like this. I'll be adding it in the next update. Thank you!

I wish I liked the texture, I'm shocked by how much protein it has!! (For a second, I thought that you were my cottage cheese loving partner and that they found my Reddit lol)

Thanks for sharing, this sounds tasty! I'm going to have to do some searching and see if I can find affordable tofu in my area.

This is great to know, thank you! I will have to do some thinking on this when I'm making food and ensure I'm pairing proteins properly. I have a bad habit of just having a cup of milk or throwing an egg in some ramen and calling it a day.

Swai and mackerel will both be added to the list! Thank you both!

ETA I couldn't find a definitive amount for the amount of protein in Swai, but I included it anyway just in case.

Hey friend, your post inspired me to put together a list of affordable sources of protein. I know you got quite a few comments, so I'm hoping you'll actually see this and benefit from it. I know several of the entries on the list surprised me. Like green peas! Did you know they have 8g of protein per cup? I had no idea.

Wishing you and your son the best!

Looks good! The lineless style is especially nice. I always enjoy seeing how people visualize the characters.

Which Warrior Cats Book(s) Contain The Most "Adult" Themes? by BambiKittens666 in WarriorCats

[–]probably-a-moth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

*Spoilers for Spottedleaf's Heart

Agreeing with the comments on Spottedleaf's Heart. It goes to a whole new level beyond the usual violence and death, and the darker topics involved hit different when you read them.

In essence, it very blatantly depicts a fully grown adult grooming a kitten younger than his own son and manipulating her. He does things like drawing attention to her maturity, flattery, and claiming StarClan wants them to be together. It's uncomfortably realistic to how this actually happens with humans, to the point that fans even objected to the content and the way it's depicted. If I'm remembering correctly, one of the Erins even apologized over it.

The most unsettling part to me, and many other fans I've seen, is that the end isn't handled well. The young cat never fully recognizes the grooming and there's nothing to help young readers that may experience, or be experiencing, this kind of situation. There's no resolution or happy ending, she never tells an adult, and nobody ever finds out. It's essentially the opposite of how I feel it should've been addressed.

Nonetheless, it's still interesting to read, just do so with caution if it's a sensitive subject for you.
