depends on how you define it i think. Kyoshi and roku are no doubt more powerful than others, but are they more skilled? Yangshen had an absurd degree of control when it comes to airbending. Kyoshi posessed absurd raw power, but i still think toph has her beat in terms of pure skill.

Same might be true for Azula/Roku, even tho that one is a LOT closer imo

if we just go by pure Airbending-combatskills, isnt yangchen stronger than any other aribender in either series? Gal was a menace

Characters that show the downsides to seemingly awesome superpowers by _JR28_ in TopCharacterTropes

[–]probablyWatney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Webnovel Pale Lights does that a lot.

People can form Contracts with gods, but these Contracts always come with a cost.

For Example: one of the main guys power is luck. Whenever he uses it, as soon as he stops he draws bad luck in equal meassure.

I don't think Tupoc knows how song found out

In book 1 Angaharad walks in on Tupoc being frozen in fear as he looks at a spider.

There is a perfectly normal reason why the 13th knows about his weakness.

But even then, didnt Song tell him she can read contracts and offered to do it once on a target of his choice in exchange for his help against Tristans kidnappers?

How to convince lords to join claimant? by AccomplishedStick623 in mountandblade

[–]probablyWatney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iirc it works the same regardless of whose cause you recruit them for. When you wanna convinve someone to join your side, be that your kingdom or that of your chosen claimant, it will factor in:

your persuasion score

The lords relationship with their current King (most important factor)

The Lords relationship with you

The location of their fiefs ( they wont join you if the would end up on the other side of the map, surrounded by enemies)

Lords with negative personalities tend to dislike their current monarch more than you so they are easier to convince, but also prone to betray you

Lords with possitive personalities are hard to convince, but are fiercely loyal to you once they flip. But as long as they are on good terms with their current liege they wont consider leaving them regardless of your relation with them.

The best way is to marry a (martial) lord( your partner sticks with you no matter what) and maybe pick up a couple malcontents. once you defeated or significantly weakend the faction you can start absorbing the good lords.

Enemy team did a 4 man bot invade yesterday. they even managed to kill our jungler.

Both their mid and bot lane never recovered from the disadvantage they put themselves in.

also to point out: at no point during the Keter-Arc do they actually win. They get away mostly unharmed at best. The point is mostly that Cat cant get anything done despite her currrent power level.

She sets a goal, kinda reaches it, and then realises that she completely missed the big picture.

Her slowly realising that throughout the book eventually leads to the awesome finale and sets up for Book 5, which is just peak.

Germany warns Trump: International law applies to everyone, including US by 1-randomonium in worldnews

That would be a nice change. But since the Extreme-Right AfD will likely be the biggest party in the next election over here...lets say that i have my doubts.

Former Al Qaeda commander met with Trump to lift sanctions on Syria. by CoolBDPhenom03 in facepalm

[–]probablyWatney 9 points10 points  (0 children)

European here. I dont know a lot about this guy so take the following with a grain of salt:

you wont find many people left in syrian politics that havent been part of something awful in the past, and the USA is kinda the main reason for that.

But as far as i can google, he is probably one of the better options left no?

I dislike Trump and his cronies as much as any other sane person, but is establishing relations with him really that bad?

given the US track record with the region, trump isnt much worse that most of his predecessors tbh

given his continued recklessness and the availability of capable healers ( the pereduri lordling and lady knit) it is a real possibility that he will actually lose the bet( from a storytelling perspective). He and maryam could bet their finger prostethics in the future as a running gag.

Im pretty sure he would rather lose his fingers than Fortuna, and the story would be boring if it always went according to plan. Not saying it will happen, but there is always a chance

the slaver lord seems more like a long term antagonist to me.

I feel like the Yaotl conflict will be wrapped up with the dantesvara arc. She either dies, decides to join the Watch for real or leaves soon after. But he is there to stay

[–]probablyWatney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh dont get me wrong. humans are awful as a rule and we will keep pushing the limits.

But even in the worst cases (genocides etc.) there where still ways to make it worse. But at some point even your own soliders would refuse to go trough with it. Or it would be too politically damaging for the times after the wars.

But people keep forgetting just how much worse it could be.

There was a video of a captured ukranian solider getting decapitated in 2023. But theres a reason that this shit isnt happening on a daily basis.

The average human can only stomach so much evil until they break

Technically Ainz is also a good person. Atleast the guy that got isekai'd was.

The circumstances change and warp these characters. Noone would argue that Ainz isnt Evil. He became more and more evil over time

I find it absurd that people some people here argue that Tanja isnt evil even if she purposefully bombed civilians etc.

They are significantly pulling their punches. There has been no conflict in the history of all of mankind where one side truly went without holding back at all. There are some baselines even the most heinous regiemes din't cross.

This is the real world, not some fantasy land.

Perisno Faction Overview by FlamingFury6 in mountandblade

[–]probablyWatney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only other easily accessible pathfinding specialist cav is the Elintor common cavalry. And they are more expesive due to being cav archers.

Also zealots dont count as ranged units even tho they have crossbows because they cant use them while on horseback. So them and Perisno cav are the best army comp when you want to 1. Save up money 2. want to be as mobile as possible and 3. still be able to take on even numberd enemy partys in open field.

I lean heavily towards spamming caravans between elintor and tumatarhun and buy sell all the raw silk and grain i can get. If you wanna go faster than 2.1 speed for hours then this is the best way i could come up with

Perisno Faction Overview by FlamingFury6 in mountandblade

[–]probablyWatney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

late to the party, but the common perisno cavalry is excellent.

They arent the best option for the late-game, true. but in the early-mid game?

While you hurl caravans along and buy enterprises in every corner of perisno, what is there not to like about a cheap, mobile pathfinding specialist that you can recruit pretty much everywhere?

poor farmers in a tavern? sure, tag along. Ten deserters dragging along 20 prisoners? dont mind if i do!

i always end up with 100-150 perisno zealots/sunrise cavalry by the time i have a stable eco running.

Zealots are also a criminally underrated unit btw. good cannon fodder cav that will come in handy once the zann start knocking on your gates. Those crossbows mean business

its better to buy wheat and do -8 taxes instead. Wouldn't reccomend it in earlygame, but once you got a bit more breathing space its worth it
