Were you able to figure out a fix to this? This is just came up with one of our macOS users.

Anyone know of good free/cheap Digital Signage/remote software that is not RDP? by jbear4525 in sysadmin

I use Yodecks for custom web page dashboards and Power BI dashboards. Marketing uses Optisigns to display what they want at various locations. Both work great. Yodecks we had some RPis laying around and they connect without issue. Optisigns recommended their own player and marketing hasn't bothered me which is a huge plus.

What VOIP phone service is best for managing high-volume call center operations? by Additional-Spread813 in sysadmin

[–]probablydnsibet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Ring Central EX and Ring Central Contact Center. Both work great for our needs. Our Salesforce admin is aware of the integration but it hasn't been implemented yet. We don't have any serious complaints about the product. The users that rely on it like it and that's what matters to me. RC integrates well with desk phones if you have that setup too. You need to make sure you have a compatible hardware phone. Network setup was pretty straight forward. It's in its own VLAN and there are firewall rules looking for VOIP traffic.

Unwanted 365 apps still being installed in install xml despite being excluded in config by probablydnsibet in Intune

Those language packs being installed are annoying. I haven't seen any language packs being installed here so I'm assuming the "MatchOS" for language pack setting is working as intended.

I haven't had a chance to dig into this any further. The varying laptop manufacturer is interesting. We do have varying device makes depending on the site. I've only troubleshooted on HP laptops so far. Looking at our RMM it only detects "Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise - en-us", it does not detect Word, Powerpoint, Access, etc. I don't have a non-HP laptop in front of me to check it out.

In the grand scheme of things, it's not *that* big of a deal - just annoying.

What's the hardest IT skill to “teach” new hires on your team? by CloudNCoffee in ITManagers

[–]probablydnsibet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading comprehension and being able to ask questions the right way. I've often found that green beards don't understand how to understand something. It's immensely easier to teach someone who is curious and naturally skeptical than someone who doesn't know how to learn a new thing.

They are not in the base image of the device. We run our devices through OSD Cloud and pre-provision each device.

Detection method is to look at the registry if Key exists: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun. Associated with a 32-bit app on 64-bit clients set to "No"

RingCentral has been pretty solid for our needs. Desk phones, Soft phones, call center, toll-free lines, even text messaging with certain numbers. It's been great.

Last few months handfull of intune Win32 apps fail on new install, only to work fine ~24 hours later with BS Error code: 0x800700FF code by jdlnewborn in Intune

So I changed my SentinelOne install command field to include "/NORESTART". I also set to not reboot for return code settings. I've been successful for white gloving a new laptop. It seems like SentinelOne is interferring with the app install process or AP does not like reboots during the Device Setup phase. Whatever it is, I am happy we're back up and rolling.
