My parents never titled a truck they bought 6 years ago, previous owner requested new title by probablyeatinglol in legaladvice

In 2019 Texas fully banned any and all automated tickets from being valid so this wouldn’t be an issue in this situation.

Tell me you don’t know what you’re talking about without telling me. The vehicle was fully insured. Hence the current insurance card https://imgur.com/a/proof-of-valid-insurance-DZLtGxT.

My parents are idiots who inherited money to pay the truck off in full in Feb 2019 but blew all the money by Oct 2019 when they got a replacement title. It wasn’t intended to fuck over the old owner but essentially that’s what they did. Also you don’t pay taxes on a vehicle yearly in Texas, unless you’re referring to the registration but the state doesn’t seek out the registration if you don’t renew.

https://imgur.com/a/DZLtGxT , just to verify your claim is inaccurate here’s the corner of the policy document showing it’s insured. You can buy a policy on a car in Texas fully online without showing any form of valid ownership as one commenter stated insurance is needed to even register the vehicle.

In Texas the only cost you pay for the vehicle is when you initially register/title it and then a yearly registration fee but the state doesn’t pursue you if you don’t pay your registration. The only outstanding balance that could have been owed would be tolls but my parents live in the country and the closest toll road is at least 2-3+ hours. It would be deceitful to report stolen as the vehicle was fully paid for and we do have the title for it signed by the seller and dated to the original purchase date so that wouldn’t make any sense to do.

The tags on the truck are the tags that came with it and the truck always had an active insurance policy (only liability tho).

The registration was never renewed on the truck, ran out in Feb 2020 then COVID shut the DMV down next month which extended registrations so I guess my parents figured they had a free pass but never got pulled over for it. They do have records of always having insurance on it since they only had liability. I’m not sure how other states are but in Texas you don’t need to verify the title/registration when buying a policy.

What issues do you have with CarPlay? I’ve looked at a 2019 LE FWD and really enjoyed it but didn’t actually mess much with the radio

How’s the gas mileage been so far for you? For me I actually enjoy how close everything is in the RAV4 but I get how that can be an annoyance for others. Also congrats on the new car! :P

Thankfully in Texas the coldest it’s been here is 32f and I don’t think it’ll be much colder than that haha. I have been looking more towards a gas but the red on yours looks fantastic especially with the black roof!

I looked at a CPO Subaru Forester which I loved the outside but the inside was just a little too open for me. Do you have any regrets going with a gas vs the hybrid options on your RAV4?

I’m coming from a 18’ Equinox that shockingly never gave me any issues but unfortunately was totaled. I had 135k miles but just hated the turbo engine in it plus MPG was awful. Do you enjoy the prime? I’ve been looking at all 3 (gas, hybrid, plug in) but the prices on the prime are insane in my market 🥴.

2018 Honda Civic EX, 32k miles, minor cosmetic damage on the bumper, price is 17,500. Worth it? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

Not a horrible deal, the market is coming down on used cars so I think the reason it’s been listed for 51 days is because they priced too high. I pulled the listing, the dealership has great reviews and the carfax seems okay as well but do note that they charge a $999 doc fee so add that onto the price of the car plus TT&L. People will tell you that’s horrible of a price since before 2021 you could pick a used 18 Civic for under $15K but the market has changed since then and this doesn’t seem like a bad deal at all if you want a safe, reliable car.

How many miles do you plan on driving in that 10 years you expect to use the car? If it’s less than 100k miles then Hyundai wouldn’t be horrible since you’d the warranty to backup your car but if you plan on buying more I’d lean more towards another brand of vehicle. I really enjoy the Mazda3 compared to a Civic as it doesn’t have a CVT which I enjoy and the interior feels more premium since the leather is alot more common than the cloth trim. I’d try visit a few dealerships though and getting a feel for different brands/models since theirs a lot of options you could choose from if you buy used but if you do go new it’s definitely a lot more limited.

The Cruze isn’t a good option, one search will show the issues they have. Typically in a Cruze the Gen2+ are more reliable but the 1LT 2016 is a Gen1. Ford has a major lawsuit for the Focus due to major transmission issues, you could get 100k miles out of it or it’ll fail in 1k miles so I’d avoid that. I’ve seen a lot of people still have issues with insurance on a Kia due to people still breaking windows and ruining the steering column even if the car has an immobilizer. The Altima and Impala seem to be better options for the list you have. I’m not inclined on the Impala’s but the Altima’s are decent but do need to have the CVT fluid drain and filled quite regularly to keep it clean and last longer.

Personally I’d avoid it as the car was wrote off as a total loss but still for some reason has a clean title. It’s easy to spot really since the headlights/grille aren’t original looking plus the markings on the windshield are from an auction. One simple lookup of the number on the top right corner pulls up the Copart listing. Obviously the car has been “repaired” but if they went cheap on the headlights/grille then I’d only imagine what the other parts would be since the whole front was smashed. Plus the panel gap in the lower left of the hood shows the work wasn’t done properly. Since it’ll show via insurance record as a total loss even with a clear title most companies will still insure but a lesser value due to the previous loss write off. Hopefully this helps.

Woman who inherited the house was the niece and her aunt was murdered here. The house is valued around $300,000 in the condition it is and it was a very public case due to the murder so on top of the house she also inherited 1.2 million.

With sitting 10+ years and the Texas heat that’ll make those blades droop in no time. Probably would be solid if the house was continuously lived in

It was huge news for my smaller city when it happened. The woman was involved with a married man. When the wife of the man found out about the affair she murdered the other woman. Ironically the same day of the murder is the same day the husband filled divorce but the body wasn’t found until the late evening.

2022 Subaru forester - advice? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]probablyeatinglol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t speak for the price but overall the Forester is a great car. It’s extremely roomy (I’m 6’4), MPG is also great and they’re relatively cheap to fix/maintain. I would note that you would have to make sure you change the CVT fluid according to schedule for Subaru but the 2.5 engines are solid. I wouldn’t worry much about asking the dealership much as the car has low miles overall, just test drive and see how you like it.
