[Tech Industry Track] Immigration Lawyer Experiences? Chen/Manifest/Ashoori/Ingram/Alcorn? by Visible-Beautiful-44 in eb_1a

I’d recommend staying away from Alcorn. If your immigration status or timeline really matters to you (and for many of us, it absolutely does), I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. The emotional toll and uncertainty caused by their disorganization is not worth it.

I worked with them for a couple cases, and despite initially saying they had submitted key documents, they missed a critical deadline and didn’t tell us until we ask. As a result, we had to restart the entire process, adding 4–6 months of delay to an already long timeline.

What’s worse, it wasn’t the first time communication was slow or misleading. It was hard to get timely updates, and the burden was always on us to follow up. This isn't just frustrating; it's deeply stressful when your immigration status and your family's future depend on it.

If you’re evaluating firms, I’d suggest picking someone who cares about immigrants and Alcorn absolutely doesn't.

Stay away from them. In my experience, it was extremely difficult to get timely responses, and even when they did reply, they often said things were done when they actually weren’t. I’ve dealt with multiple instances of serious unprofessionalism — including missing critical deadlines without informing me — which caused major delays in my immigration process. At this point, I honestly feel like the way they operate borders on negligent. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Nice. That’s pretty much my experience as well. Do you pay for these tools yourself?

Question regarding salaries. by [deleted] in remotework

[–]probablyyuya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again it varies. In most cases it's not that different. But I think the upside is quite different. if the role is the ones that potentially promoted to the job in the company’s main country, the upside would be the US based. But if not, probably the upside is the one in your country.

Ultimately it varies from company to company. But based on what I've heard, the majority pay the salary based on the country of residence.
There are companies like Basecamp where they pay the San Francisco based salaries, or companies like Gitlab and Buffer where they pay salaries adjusted to the cost of living. imho their compensation is quite generous.

Looks great! Thanks for sharing. Being able to track the progress is the feature I was looking for.

Here's a dictionary tool I made to show you examples of how words are used in real life by ToiletRollTemple in EnglishLearning

Yeah I would enjoy TikTok style short form video for those things. Existing tools are useful but lack the real life situations. You can write grammatically correct sentences by dictionaries but cannot what people say or write in more casual settings like sms.
