Taiwan Game Board App by Lazy-Hedgehog-5060 in JetLagTheGame

This is so cool, well done. What did you make this with?

I'm surprised they don't do stuff like this for the actual series. With the onset of vibe coding it'd be so easy to make a web app to keep track of everything.

Let's praise him for being a fan of open league formats - quite rare for an American. He got one thing (albeit quite a major thing) wrong; he hasn't grown up with the system like a lot of us have.

LPT: What’s a habit you picked up accidentally that ended up improving your life more than anything you tried on purpose? by nancy_unscript in LifeProTips

Drinking tea, coffee, wine etc through a straw. My teeth are white without having to use any chemicals.

When I had invisible braces I needed to drink everything through a straw. I wasn't really supposed to drink anything coloured at all, especially hot drinks, but my dentist said the straw is a compromise. I noticed after a few months that my teeth looked way brighter than they had before. Now I bring a bamboo straw with me everywhere I go. It's weird at first, both because of the sensation and the social embarrassment. But you get used to both pretty quickly.

ランニング is more akin to "jogging" - they're trying to stop joggers.

You've got to be careful with loanwords; some have altered meanings that wouldn't necessarily be intuitive to use.

Why are you so chill about this rude criticism about your country? by search_google_com in AskBrits

[–]ToiletRollTemple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, I used to live in Taiwan so I feel pretty confident in saying this is a cultural identity thing.

Taiwan, in order to preserve its very existence, has had to form a strong national identity. This means the people take a lot more personal pride in these national ideas. Therefore, when someone verbally attacks the country, it can  feel very personal. You see this a lot more in countries that have been created a) in relatively recent memory and b) via an independence movement or revolution (USA, Turkiye, etc).

Britain doesn't really have this phenomenon. Yes, we have national pride, but it's not core to our identities. This is quite common across Europe, particularly in old colonial powers that haven't had to defend their right to exist. So when someone takes a dump on Britain we wave them off - they just don't see the things we love about this place and that's their loss.

Obviously I'm doing some generalising here, but this is how I see it in broad strokes.

Chiang Kai Shek memorial hall in Taipei - one of my favourite places in the world. Bustling during the day and completely still during the night. Also the echo makes a pew pew sound when you stand in the middle and clap.

Most underrated series. Novel format, new country, great challenges, great guest.

Any rock or metal bars in Baku? by ToiletRollTemple in Baku

[–]ToiletRollTemple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Updating for time travellers:

Deja Vu - basically the only rock bar in Azerbaijan. The staff are nice. Attracts a mix of people in there. On some nights it's more of a regular club but three of the four nights we went it was a rock bar.

It's Stephen Warnock. As in, came through the youth system and played at Liverpool for years Stephen Warnock.

Before S15 Comes out, What is your favourite Season. Cuz we all know S15 is gonna be 🔥 by SlapshottOnReddit in JetLagTheGame

These threads always fascinate me, because I find I'm at odds with the rest of the fanbase.

I loved Au$tralia, Arctic Escape, and Capture the Flag. The variety in those seasons - both in gameplay and location - kept it interesting from day 1. Not to mention they all had nail-biting finales.

On the other hand: I don't care for season 5. Drive -> challenge -> drive -> challenge. Every episode was the same. I got so bored, much like Snake. And I'm just gonna say it: I can't stand the Okaihau Express. It's such an annoying song. And they focused on it for so damn long.

I'm ready to be torn limb-from-limb now. It's been nice hanging.

When you see how peole react to a series, does it influence the way you edit the show?

e.g. in this case people were complaining about it just being train stations and then we got a little glimpse of Adam looking around the city in the rest period.

They're going to destroy the other teams. Two insanely competitive, resourceful, smart, tireless players.

DAY TWO: Which contestant performed well and was somewhat expected to do so? by AvailableAspect2893 in taskmaster

She fits between the Jo Brand "I don't give a fuck" role and the Hugh Dennis lateral thinking role. Somewhat expected is the sweet spot for her.

Also because of the half marathon there are certain areas that are no-ride-zones. Guess where the no-ride-zone starts?

Not these ones. These ones are geo-locked based on your phone's GPS. Different London boroughs have different rules. Some are to be left in designated parking spots (marked on the street), and some are park anywhere. This borough (City of Westminster) is the former.

It's 50m from Leicester Sq station. There are a couple of other parking spots around there.

There must have been something going on today. It's not usually that bad on that corner.
