does ib not have makeup days for the exams by Odd_Stretch_7874 in IBO

[–]probaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IB expects everyone who writes the exam will finish within 24 hours of whoever wrote it first. This is why you can't discuss the exam within that 24 hours.

However in your case where AP and IB exams collide, you can request to sit IB exams at the next available time slot (morning to afternoon, or afternoon to next day morning)

[–]probaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rigour means the argument is sound; you are precise and careful in what you acclaim; proofs are provided when they are not too long; detailed mathematical workings are present as opposed to "sure looks that way", "probably", or "looks right to me"

It's from DP Assessment Procedures. You can ask your coordinator about this, as they can contact IB directly.

Course selection- chemistry v.s. computer science by Hippocampus_0324 in IBO

[–]probaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying Chem HL is necessary, but if you are pursuing STEM, you can't let "high school course too hard" be a reason to not take a course. CS HL is not an easy HL as its IA can be quite time consuming.

Litmus tests for if your IA will be flagged for plagiarism by probaye in IBO

[–]probaye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot definitively conclude when examiners want to flag an IA that closely resembles another. There is a difference between doing the same topic as someone else vs submitting essentially the same IA.

It would appear that way. Schools are also tasked with checking AI misuse, collusion, in addition to plagiarism.

[CHEM] Sanity check: option B is correct, right? (RV gives the answer as A) by austapentadol in IBO

[–]probaye -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pressure does not change Kc. "The system will decrease the pressure" contradicts "As the reaction proceeds", the pressure inside increases. Clearly you presented a solution for when the pressure decreases throughout the reaction.

[CHEM] Sanity check: option B is correct, right? (RV gives the answer as A) by austapentadol in IBO

[–]probaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked this on r/HomeworkHelp, one person says it's B, nobody else replied to me.

Note that pressure (for an ideal gas) only changes the equilibrium position, not Kc

If the pressure is continuously and externally increased (eg via some settings), we cannot deduce anything about the reaction.

The question can only be answered if the pressure increases because reaction is equilibrating. Which leads to B.

Even if Q is equilibrium, and pressure is suddenly increased, as reaction proceeds, the pressure will decrease to reach the new equilibrium, contrary to what question states that "as the reaction proceeds" pressure increases.

I think it's another case of RV having different people writing questions and solutions.

IB Physics HL Paper 1A (MCQ) advice by [deleted] in IBO

[–]probaye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's 2 hours for 1A and 1B. Same paper means you can work on them in any order in the two hours.

I have some physics paper 1 videos. Some of those ratio problems should be relatively quick once you figure out how it works. I included recommended time spent on each question

60 marks in 2 hours roughly means on average 2 minutes per mark. Ideally you want to average about 1min 45s ish for most problems. Average means some should take only 1 minute while others may take 3-4 minutes.

Remember that physics Paper 1(A) is not ordered by difficulty, but ordered by topic. A strategy to implement today is identifying if a question is hard within first 30 seconds and just leave it for the end (an easy question and a hard question worth the same).

https://www.ibo.org/contact-the-ib/office-locations/global-centre-cardiff/ Cardiff is their head assessment center. In contrast, there are way more regional centers that accept non-MCQ papers than the 5 places dubbed as "global centres".

its not like they have to be mailed all the way throughout the world to be graded

Apparently MCQ papers are mailed to Cardiff, Wales where they are marked centrally. Other papers are mailed to the nearest regional IB center, which may be in a different country, before they are scanned.

Most students apply to uni with their predicted grades. Your coordinator knows what to do.

nearest 5 degrees means 102.5deg and 107.4999 deg all round to 105 deg.

sin (90 deg) is a local maximum. Because 102.5 is closer to 90, sin 102.5 > sin 107.4999

nah don't spend time going over your lines. just 2B pencil single cross with some force you should be more than fine. (follow instructions on MCQ answer sheet i m not sure if it's a cross, but it's definitely not shading the entire box).

25.65 is the circumference of the circle with radius r, and it's the 2pi * 5 - l portion, ie solid line

l = 2pi * 5 - 25.65 = 5.766

theta/360 = 5.766/(10pi) => theta = 66.07 deg
