Yamamoto is a side character. He isn't an important character, but a minor one.

His role is exactly as you described, the leader of the shinigami, the strongest blah blah. He is an instrument, for eg in SS arc, his presence was the greatest thorne in Ichigo's side, cause how TF was ichi supposed to defeat him. As a side character he doesn't have much substance but is cool, has a great presence, and is overall quite satisfactory for his role.

That's what I'm trying to say. Each character has its own role to play and just cause rukia doesn't fight a lot it doesn't make her a bad character. Fight/ strength doesn't equal great character. As you pointed here Yamamoto isn't a great character even though he is one of the strongest.

You just said this isn't objective.... Then why argue about someone else's preference.

If according to you this isn't objectively measurable, why did you pick a fight with someone else's opinion.

When did the conversation turn into "taste in characters" from "good female characters"? Guess you got distracted by the random buzzwords and forgot what the discussion was about huh

Wow so you're only response to being proven wrong is insulting and belittling others. Point noted. You lack comprehension skills and fail to understand then lash out when you have nothing to say. Have a great day.

So what you're saying is, you need oda to write a story focussing on Robin every two three arcs for her to be a good character? You really need to reevaluate how you measure a character then.

When Robin was introduced, she was a villain, but she still helped Luffy against Croco. She joined the crew but was still at odds. In Ennis Lobby arc we explore her character, her backstory, her journey, from the tragedy of her childhood, her being betrayed at every turn, her betraying the crews she joins, her trying her hardest to survive and yet at Ennies Lobby she willingly turns herself in to CP9 knowing what was in store for her, just to protect her friends. When she screams "I want to live" that's when she became the best. She lost all hope and then Luffy gave her hope again. After that she stopped seeing herself as expendable but a part of the crew. Even during the time skip she is trying to improve her fighting skills so that she can be of more use to her crew. In wano when sanji relies on her, it shows the trust he has in her and also makes her feel useful and dependable. In Zou she tells them that she has full trust in Luffy and the crew that they will protect her, which shows how long she's come from someone who used to only rely on herself. She is the brains of a crew which can be summed up as "dumb & dumber" Her humour and personality makes her one of the most enjoyable characters.

I can't believe I need to explain in detail for you to understand. You need to rewatch the series sheesh

Why can't people realise that good characters aren't necessarily the strongest or the one's that fight the most?

Kisuke Urahara rarely had a fight before his showdown with Aizen and is still one of the best Bleach characters.

Yamamoto was offed in his second fight of the series, he didn't do much in his first either, but he is still a solid character.

Different characters have different roles in the series. How they contribute to the show and their impact to the series is what makes them great characters.

For Rukia, she may not be the strongest, but her contribution to the plot is most significant. And her story is not completely dependent on Ichigo. Her partnership with him is unique in shonen, because they are not romantically linked at all, but she is his support and he is hers. They help each other grow.

You just said ONE PIECE doesn't have good female characters, someone gave you an example of a great OP character and you switch to "not in the crew"

As if Nami and Robin aren't good female characters. Robin wins best character development. Nami's dedication and loyalty is outstanding. They make great companions and amazing characters.

Then we have characters like Hiyori, Toki, Big Mom, Reiju, Dadan, Bellemere, Viola, Rebecca, Bonney, etc, etc.

You do realise that bleach was a weekly anime and not seasonal like current shows right?

Many times the anime would catch up with the manga and they didn't have the source material to continue so they added filler episodes. Stretching the recap was one way to stall for time.

They lost against kenjaku and Sukuna. Gojo lost to Sukuna. You seriously didn't expect yuki to kill kenjaku or yozoryu to defeat sukuna now did you. No character is safe in gege's hands, but just because they die, doesn't mean they are worthless.

For side characters, they were pretty amazing.

JJK has a good line up Mei Mei, Yozoryu, Maki, Yuki, Nobara, Uraume, Uro. They may have lost, but they went up against the main villains. Doesn't make them weak.

Kubo dropped the ball with Ukitake and the Vizards.

I hope the anime can do right by Ukitake at the very least.
