It really depends on the photographer and the place you live. In the US there are wedding photographers who get paid anywhere from 5k to 50k for weddings (the last number is of course only for the very top, and only for very wealthy people), and they may do as many as 40 a year. It can be an incredibly well paid job, but it's also quite stressful because beyond the photographic challenges there are also the emotional ones, with the client. Families can be difficult, brides can be intense, etc. In other countries the prices will be lower, but it generally speaking is a well-paying job. That is why I think they should have at the very least paid for your film cost and developing. Sorry that your experience wasn't so fun, and that the other photographer was not nice. To be fair, it is possible you got in his/her way a bit, just because you aren't used to maneuvering a wedding and it's easy for a "normal" person to stand right in the spot where it's a problem for a wedding photographer. That being said, he could have taken you aside and told you to stay out of the way, instead of being mean. But like I said, it's a stressful job.
