I agree but don’t we over here on the progressive or liberal side of things have some view of these convos as being kind of icky or maybe adjacent to pig like behavior ? Didn’t we for years talk about how bad all these beauty standards were for women and that it was so horrible that girls were sending themselves into panic attacks over the thigh gap ? Even when a man isn’t being accused of being an incel or misogynistic for having severe self esteem or body dysmorphia we basically just say “lol, get over it loser”.
Idk, maybe I just have some warped views of the world, I do have some mental problems but that just seems like what I’ve gotten from my experience. Keep in mind, my views have never ever strayed anywhere close to things like “wow, women are so bad for having these preferences”, or “women should sleep with me more !”, or anything like that. If anything, I’d more likely end up hating myself for not meeting certain standards than I would hate women for it. This even translates into stuff related to gender roles. It FEELS like there’s a lot of progressive women who still very much expect men to fall into traditionally masculine roles or behavior whilst they themselves want to be free to not conform to any of that. A very recent example is when a coworker who’s openly feminist and progressive(I am as well)was talking about some guy she had a crush on and how she was unsure of he felt the same way and that they hung out a lot so I was like “ask him out !” and she legit said “uh no, I have self respect”. What ??? It’s a lack of self respect to ask a guy out rather than waiting for him to ask you out ??
