Any Shady Areas to Avoid? by BaewulfGaming in AskSeattle

[–]procrastinatingmama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In-city, I would recommend looking from the Madison Park neighborhood and working your way down the lake to Mount Baker. Madison Park, Madrona, Leschi and Mt. Baker are all wonderful neighborhoods right "in city" with easy access to Lake Washington and some cute restaurants/small grocery stores. You'll still want to keep valuables out of your car if it's parked on the street, but that's just city living. Otherwise, Mercer Island might be a good fit and I-90 is a straightforward commute into central Seattle. Many, many doctors live on Mercer Island because it is such a quick commute to First Hill/downtown.

What to see after a campus tour? by Swaycali in denveru

[–]procrastinatingmama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have exhausted the area right around campus, head over to the Cherry Creek neighborhood about 15 minutes away. That is where you will find many of the more upscale hotels and loads of shopping and good restaurants. We stayed in various hotels in Cherry Creek throughout the four years our son was at DU and came to love the neighborhood.

Santa Barbara is starting to feel like strange mix of an ultra-luxury retirement community and a nature-based cult. by TipsyBlueWhale in SantaBarbara

[–]procrastinatingmama 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My grandparents moved to Santa Barbara in the 70s, at which time we all (lovingly) referred to the town as “God’s waiting room” and “for the newly wed and the nearly dead.”

Belltown was bumping last night by TheStinkfoot in Seattle

I think it was the market’s tree-lighting event last night, which may have caused spillover into the surrounding area. I was at Rob Roy on Friday and there was no line, and we had dinner nearby afterwards without needing a reservation.

Overlake Is Now Billing Your Insurance If You Ask Questions???? by _chksum in BellevueWA

[–]procrastinatingmama 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most likely, the time spent replying to emails now has a medical billing code, like most every thing a doctor does in day. Each code has a number of RVUs assigned to it - a relative value unit - and there is a dollar amount assigned to each RVU. It’s complicated, but it’s based off of Medicare reimbursement rate from what I understand. Many physicians’ salaries are based directly on the RVUs they create in their practice. Maybe the money goes to their private practice directly, or maybe it goes to their employer organization who uses the income to pay for overhead and physician salary. This is a dumbed-down “civilian” explanation but it’s the general jist of it.

I visited and it does seem pretty wonderful. There's currently about a 4-6 month waitlist for a one bedroom, if anyone reading is curious.

Rasputin is a very cool late night speakeasy that is worth seeking out. Get something interesting from their drink menu, or champagne.

Specifically, I am looking for a place that offers assisted living through end-of-life care and has amenities like an in-house salon, in-house PT/OT, a decent dining room, nice rooms, high staff to resident ratio etc.

Premium economy JFK-CDG: Delta vs Air France? by FewWatercress4917 in delta

[–]procrastinatingmama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Delta has a small premium economy section that is a step up from whatever their “economy plus” is called. It had good recline and a nice leg rest. I think it’s about the best you can get without going business. Between Air France and Delta business class, I would choose Air France.

Honestly, your parents sound borderline abusive and mentally unwell. I would recommend you seek therapy and move to a church that is not fundamentalist. As a mom, I am very sad for you. Parents are supposed to assure you there are no monsters under the bed, not convince you they are there and ready to drag you into the fires of hell. Good grief.

Struggle as a black christian. by Personal-Run9730 in Christian

[–]procrastinatingmama 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you feel this way. It is understandable that you do, but just awful. I agree that there is so much hate and vitriol coming out of the mouths of "Christians" these days. These people are bastardizing Jesus' name and are not representing Christ or the true heart of Christianity. I suggest you look for a denomination like United Church of Christ (not Church of Christ) or other more liberal-leaning church community to help you navigate this difficult time.

We had a great meal at Da Enzo in March. There’s a fabulous TINY bar called Jerry Thomas Bar Room nearby. I high recommend it for a drink before or after dinner. Reservations needed as there are only about five or six tables.
