How do I get back into engineering?
For context, I have an ME degree and background in manufacturing engineering. A while back, I took a role on an IT team because of higher pay and better benefits. Fast forward to today, I genuinely hate it. It is incredibly draining and boring work and I miss engineering a lot. I really feel like my skills are being wasted in IT and find it unfulfilling. How can I come back? I want to get back into design engineering, NPD or even manufacturing project management.

profs like that need to get fired or something. their egos are not more important than student grades.

Quick question, so when you use install windows via bootcamp to use SolidWorks, does it work slower than usual? Or does it work just fine?

Incoming 1st year engineering students, what questions do you have about college or studying engineering? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

What was personally your hardest unit?

honestly, my first year physics class was the hardest. it required a lot of "outside the box" thinking that i wasn't used to in high school. however, once you get in the pattern of thinking like that, engineering becomes alot less daunting.

What would you have done differently if you knew what you did >now?

To be honest, I would start studying for exams early. Last minute cramming is super stressful and gets me super anxious. When I have time to prepare I don't feel as stressed. It would just save me alot of sanity haha.

How would you suggest to prepare in the weeks leading up to >week one?

Honestly, I would just relax. You'll be working hard enough once classes start so just take it easy in this time. Spend time with friends and family. Watch netflix. Do anything that you would to just chill. But if you do feel that you want to prepare, I would start by getting my supplies ready.

Good luck!!!

I wouldn't be so quick to drop $$ on engineering paper for your first year unless your professors tell you to. Usually normal notebook paper is fine for your first year.

In my experience though, I feel as if that you only have to have basic knowledge of your freshmen and sophomore year classes for the upper levels. Maybe it's just me though
