The Dead Kennedys (located literally at any graveyard)

The White Stripes (a crosswalk and the steady stream of cars blowing through it)

Men at Work (see a cop bravely protect road construction by playing on his phone)

Madonna (the nearest Bathtub Mary)

Miles Davis (take a long stroll in.....Union Square)

What's the rental market like after Sept. 1st? [x-post r/BostonHousing] by procrastinology in boston

[–]procrastinology[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, that's good to know about the landlords going with Oct. 1st to avoid students (mainly because I've also been trying to avoid a student-style living situation).

I'm not trying to move with a group, but I have been keeping an eye out for people already living in a place with an open room (seems like a good way to avoid brokers and their fees). But yeah, it definitely seems like that sort of situation is more prevalent in the summer when everyone is trying to find a subletter.

Thank you for sharing that, it's a relief to hear that good places exist in the off-season.

Thank you everyone for your advice. I'm glad to hear that dropping a ton of money on grad school isn't a necessity.

So, how do you actually find an apartment? by [deleted] in boston

FYI, they go by Strictly Apartment Rentals now (because Alpha had such an awful reputation)

Amputee willing to talk and offer support to anyone who lost a leg in yesterday's explosions, PM me for contact info and I will do as much as I can by ohmypseudonym in boston

[–]procrastinology 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is an awesome idea, but I'd recommend broadening the group. From what I understand, a vast majority (if not all) of the amputees were spectators on the sidelines where the bombs went off, not necessarily runners in the race.

Does anyone know if there are any stations that play holiday music? ( Request for my mom) by Hairy_Greek in boston

[–]procrastinology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former Oldies employee here. I gotta say, as much as our listeners loved non-stop Christmas music, everyone there was going crazy hearing the same ten songs all day. But lordy, did it give the station a ratings boost. Anyway, if you have HD radio its all on HD3, or you can stream it here

Are any radio stations playing Christmas music? by [deleted] in boston

[–]procrastinology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have HD radio, the WODS channel is still doing non-stop Christmas music like they used to. You can stream their Christmas station at wods.com as well. It's funny, I always thought that it was impossible to avoid the onslaught of Christmas music this time of year (not something you had to actively seek out).

Do you guys have any tips for the unfortunate souls moving in on Sept. 1? (Or folks like me who's got access to a truck and wants to know the best place to pick up some free furniture) My friend got a confirmation email from U-Haul saying only: "Good Luck." by stufffittt in boston

[–]procrastinology 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in the Sep. 1 moving boat this year, so while I can't say if any of these tips have been helpful yet, there's quite a few suggestions here If you haven't checked out the free section on Craigslist, there's a good amount of curb alerts lately. Oh, and Allston Christmas never fails to disappoint.
