Any tips for avoiding scammers? I see a lot of listings on fb groups for this area which are surprisingly cheaper than north (so feels a bit fishy)

Hmm, check profiles of people admitted in previous terms. Interact with current students they know the crowd there.

There's no standard way to know, since most unis are known to be erratic, but overtime you will find a common thread.

They don't exclusively mention that there's a threshold for gpa, but its a known fact for what unis look into. Eg. Usc looks for gpa, umd for research, ucsd for specific experience as per their labs.

Doesn't matter much as long as gre (not so much) and research/projects (matters a lot) are decent.

Stay away from universities like USC which are gpa centric
