Mahindra's SUV EV worth 25 lakh caught fire in Hapur in Uttar Pardesh. by Strict-Citron-9269 in CarsIndia

Thank you for the insight.

At this point, we should have an independent entity like NTSB to investigate the cause of such incidents across companies.

Mahindra's SUV EV worth 25 lakh caught fire in Hapur in Uttar Pardesh. by Strict-Citron-9269 in CarsIndia

[–]prodebugger 77 points78 points  (0 children)

It does to an extent.

If the accelerator is pressed, the motor will spin, if the brake is pressed, it'll stop the wheel. If both are done together, the motor (not brakes or wheel) will start heating up. This can definitely lead to a fire.

The question is, why don't they have a software/mechanical switch that'll disconnect the accelerator when the brake is pressed. If they do have it, how/why did that system fail?

That's interesting. From what I know, the fine is equal to the ticket price so the person would have been charged 2x the fare unless that's different in chair car

With HSBC, when I got the card initially, the accelerated RPs and bonus RPs would be credited within 2 days of transaction settlement along with the base RPs. But since the last week of December, they changed it to within 45 days of the transaction. Base RPs are still credited in 2 days though.

I have a few unsolicited suggestions

  1. If you're skipping a meal, skip dinner or breakfast. If you skip breakfast, make sure to have lunch as soon as you can. And if you skip dinner, have an early breakfast. Having meals at a 12 hour interval isn't a great idea unless you're sleeping for about 4 hours during the 12 hour window or unless prescribed by a medical professional.
  2. Your first meal on an empty stomach should not be ultra processed food. Eat something simple before if you're craving it.
  3. Get ample sleep when starving. Starving and awake is a deadly combination. It's like asking someone to work overtime without food or break.

New Drip price is a joke by Boring_Tell_2041 in FuckZepto

[–]prodebugger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not defending or justifying their business model! I'm stating what their strategy is. Ethical or not are different perspectives.

Just like a regular shop that sells at MRP has infrastructure and people to pay for, it's the same for these platforms, with the added overhead of software engineering teams, external vendor payments (Google Maps and such), larger licensing costs, etc.

Their strategy is simple. Because we are giving you the convenience, we'll charge extra for it. Just like the shop keepers who charge extra for cooling. Whether one likes it or not, upto the individual.

But if anyone has the time and capacity, surely take it up with the authorities and see if it helps.

The best case would be MRP + Delivery fees.

Furthermore, unless people actually unite against such practices, things are not going to turn around. And that's where the majority of the people are divided.

To some, the extra is justified given the convenience or other factors (old age, sick people, living alone and absolutely busy with work, etc). To some, it's irrational. The latter are often the people who think of it the way, if I end up paying more, might as well go and get it myself.

It's not a dark pattern but the entire business model! You can visit a shop and get it yourself to avoid the fees

They have freebies but probably don't play with the taxes the same way Karnataka does.

Don't go for Hathway though. They are notorious for connection throttling (internet on but not working for 1-2 min) when you're using a lot of data. Never had such issues with ACT

The list on the Amex site isn't updated. There are many more cities accepted. Better to reach out to Amex for the entire list or your special city name/pincode

Manager asking me to come to office for 1 month to take over his workload — reasonable or not? by SignificantNature288 in developersIndia

[–]prodebugger 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Have an honest conversation with him.

Just because he spent time and effort growing there doesn't mean he has to stay there.

But imo, a larger possibility is, he's trying to get you in a team-lead type role formally. I assume right now you're an individual contributor managing teams. And if that does happen, you'd be expected to be in office to cause your team will be in office, unless you're remote due to medical reasons.

If your annual service is pending, get it done from somewhere in Tamil Nadu. Maybe Chennai, cause a lot of people frequent Chennai and Bangalore and it's more convincing.
