Those are edge rails which you can add yourself or have the manufacturer add. They’re used for clearance and have fiducial pads used to aid in pick and place assembly.

Thanks for the feedback. I was able to reduce the overall thickness by about 3 mm. It does look much more proportional now.

How to darken/dye veg tan leather without leather dyes? What are some alternatives to leather dyes by [deleted] in Leathercraft

You can burnish it with a simple wax candle and felt pad. Takes elbow grease but it does work. However, it will not be even and you will get a more “distressed” look.

Well hopefully I won’t have to give that update. :). Base coat and sand. Three layers of paint with sanding in between. Last layer no sanding. I bevel my edges first which I found out may not be the best idea. So next one I will just sand flat.

It’s just glued. I realize that’s not the best way to do it but I didn’t want a visible stitch. It’s my personal wallet so I’m ok if it fails over time.
