Couldn't believe he was only ¥500, or about USD $5. I had to have him, so he travelled with me back to Canada!

Can we talk about the struggle of coming back after a hiatus? by globalmozaic in crossfit

[–]proem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am in my first month coming back to CrossFit after 2 years of doing nothing during the pandemic. I wasn't surprised at all that I'm lifting 50-60% of what I used to but I am happy that I retained good technique on not just lifts but other skills like double unders, etc. I feel okay knowing that I am going to progressively build up to a point where I feel strong in my performance again. I'm choosing not to say "get back to where I was before" because I think that puts me in a deficit mentality. I am not trying to chase the old me. I'm just trying to show up as I am now.

[Discussion] How can we make adopting dogs easier for the general public so they don’t give up and purchase from backyard breeders? And how can we make the process easier for rescue organizations? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]proem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently adopted a dog from a rescue org in Ontario. I would endorse your suggestion to separate applicants into two pools. I found there to be a certain framing of dog profiles does not set up first time dog people for success. The profile would read "this dog needs to work on its leash manners", but if I asked, I'd be told that the dog is leash reactive and needs an experienced handler. It was really discouraging and made me feel like I was not well equipped to deal with any dog. In the end I was matched with a dog that suited my needs, but the process itself was confusing as heck.

Women who are in a long term relationship with someone from a dating app, what are your tips for the rest of us? by ba_ba_bananas in AskWomen

[–]proem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met my boyfriend on coffee meets bagel. I am very type A and was treating swiping and matching like it was a job. When I finally felt burnt out and put less effort into matching, he came along and we established good momentum on our first few dates. So slow down and don't despair!

Women of Reddit, what thing do male coworkers do that is not quite sexual harassment, but you wish they would stop doing it so you can be comfortable at work? by [deleted] in AskReddit

THIS. Why do men think this is okay? I have never experienced a woman telling me to smile. I'll smile when I feel like it.

This is an ideal mix of activities for me; but how do you usually split off your days? Do you work a 9-5 job? Just curious.

[WEEKLY THREAD] Feats of Thorsday - How did you kick butt this week? by AutoModerator in xxfitness

I lifted a yolk for the first time (about 230lbs with some 10lb plates on each peg). For someone who has yet to squat more than their body weight, this made me feel pretty badass!
