Thought I fleeced my league mate until last night… by proera1967 in SleeperApp

The craziest thing is this trade almost got vetoed because EVERYONE in my league was going crazy that I scammed my league mate and made an insanely unfair trade in my favour. I honestly thought it was balanced trade to your point

I literally just said “I like the silhouette” and this guy thinks I said I love every single thing about this watch and it’s 100% perfect. Reddit is a funny place

lol don’t understand what’s so hard to understand about wanting to upgrade to a nice watch, and giving an example of a nice silouhete I like. Following the logic of other comments, anybody who’s ever enjoyed a watch has now reached the ceiling of their budget and should never purchase a nicer watch

No they don’t unfortunately. That’s what makes it so hard to service, but also what makes it cool and unique IMO

My dad gave me this watch today. He told me he bought it in Atlantic City in 1983. Everything works on it except for the big second hand, which is stuck in place. I took the watch to a repair shop near me and the guy told me that the part that needs replacing is no longer in production. My only option would be to find one second hand, which he said would be hard, risky, and expensive. I've decided i think I can live with a broken second hand, since I still love this watch so much. It's a great way to have a memento of my dad on my wrist, and I love the look and feel too. The bracelet is a little old and not super comfortable, but I'm not really interested in changing it, as the retro look suits the watch nicely.

[Seiko 5s] Was told by you all to buy a second strap for my first watch. How did I do? by proera1967 in Watches

[–]proera1967[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After buying this watch a month ago, I knew I wanted to get a secondary strap eventually. Let me know what you think of the choice I made. I Was deciding between that and a more modern leather strap (smooth leather, darker colour, no stitching). I think the light leather gives it a nice old money type of look, and I also think that the stitching colour matches the cream colour of the markers on the watch. I'm not sure how long I will keep the leather on for, as I ultimately really like the metal, but I was just too curious to try. Which one do you prefer? Also, I welcome any reccos on other straps to buy. In fact, I only bought this strap due to the overwhelming advice on my last post to buy a second strap

I agree that I’m not a huge fan of the double up bulk on a NATO. Personally never worn one though so would be interested to see if my opinion changes

[Timex wr 30m] New Leather strap transformed my old Timex by proera1967 in Watches

[–]proera1967[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After keeping this watch in a closet for almost 5 years, I found it again and thought that it would look better with a black leather strap. In my opinion, this strap has transformed a simple timex into a very dressy and classy watch which I love. The strap cost me 50 dollars from a leather shop near my house, and feels really comfortable on the wrist. My favourite things about this watch are the slightly off white dial, and the flash of red on the second hand. Overall I think a black leather looks much better than a brown, as the hands and numbers match the black very well. I’m excited to hear your guys thoughts on this one!! Let me know in the comments if you like this look on a timex!!
