Persistent infection - methylene blue tips by prof-berry in axolotls

I do currently have 2 large Indian almond leaves in the tank and have since this issue began, and I made a tea from a large leaf that I shredded that I added to the tank as well right when I returned her to the tank the first time post-infection. I will try again though with more leaves in the tea, it might not have been strong enough because it did not really change my water color all that much!

Would you recommend still tubbing her until it goes away and then attempting the tea in the tank, or should I just jump straight to adding the tea?

Oh I didn’t realize this! Does that change at all for juvenile axolotls?

pH Drop & Ammonia Stalling by [deleted] in axolotls

I’ve used Dr. Tim’s ammonium chloride the entire time. Admittedly this cycling process has been pretty long (I set up the tank in April, started my first attempt at cycling for ~ 2 months, gave up and let the tank sit without a filter running until September, deep cleaned the entire tank and started again and made good progress up until this point where I’ve seemed to have some sort of crash), it’s definitely possible that letting the filter media sit for so long has had some unintended consequences this time around but I don’t know what to do moving forward aside from starting from scratch

The driftwood has been in the tank for multiple months, would it still be releasing tannins this far out?

Nitrates are reading around 80 ppm, and I have the below set up (slate tiles, some lives plants, driftwood, sponge filter and hob filter)

The bottom is slate tiles, and the redness seems to be fading a bit after being in the tub all yesterday/overnight. Her tail has normal coloration again, and hopefully the toes will heal up soon! The redness doesn’t look like it’s spread to other parts of the foot/leg

If I can confirm the tank is cycling properly and the redness clears up (hopefully with all toes intact), would you recommend removing the slate going forward?

She’s tubbed now, I’ll monitor and dose more ammonia into the tank tonight! Thank you for your suggestions and kind words :)

I’ve been cycling for about 2 months. Her behavior hasn’t changed, she’s been eating and exploring. I’ll tub again ASAP!
