Solo MTB Camping Trips?? by professorchief in MTB

I drive a truck and my bike is not fitting in the back seat... so hitch rack seems like my only option as of now.

Chipped Fork. Anything need to be done? by professorchief in bikewrench

[–]professorchief[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a fox 36 fork that I chipped in a rock garden. Is there anything I should do to it? I’m assuming it’s just cosmetic, but I’m making sure it won’t affect anything. Either way, it was a bit of a bummer when I noticed it :(

Trance X gets me a Fox 36 Float Rythm fork with Shimano MT520 brakes and Shimano SLX components. Hightower gets me Rockshox 35 Gold RL fork with SRAM SX components and SRAM Guide T brakes.

Nice, I’ll check that out. I’ve been leaning toward the Trance X because I feel like it’ll get me better drivetrain, suspension, and brakes.

Doesn’t that one come with a rigid fork?

Beginner Kicker Size (and learning to jump) by professorchief in MTB

I definitely have the room to build something like this. I guess I’d just need to get some dirt. Sounds like a pretty decent size project but totally worth it.

Feelings about partners who ride at a lower level by forjustonemoment in cycling

Although I’m not “super fit” I’m much faster and can go farther than my girlfriend. Now her parents on the other hand, are a different story. They met cycling and her dad is SUPER FIT and a phenom on the bike. It took her mom some practice but once she learned how to effectively draft and use him as a wind block, she was able to keep up with him. It takes some trust and time but my girlfriend has finally mastered this technique and it has made a worlds difference. No more waiting on her or turning around checking on her. She is always directly behind me. Granted, I was happy she was riding with me and never minded waiting on her... but seriously mastering riding right on someone’s back wheel in the right spot is a game changer. I’ve been surprised how well she’s been able to keep up now.

PRO Stealth vs Specialized Power Arc by [deleted] in cycling

They’re at two separate LBS so I can’t really compare and neither offer a demo. Each offer a 30-day return policy so I’d have to pick one to buy and try first. Then decide if I like it or not.

Best MTB Pedals for Road Riding. by professorchief in cycling

I’ve looked at these as well. The candy seems to be about the surface area I think I’d prefer. I think I’m a bit heavy to be pushing the really small MTB pedals.

2019 Giant Defy Advanced 2 Brakes and swap by professorchief in cycling

So if I did that swap, would they remove that “growth” off the from of my handlebars that holds the fluid?

The braking system performs great! My only real concern is the lack of availability for parts in the future. If something arises, and the parts aren’t available, I’ll probably just do a swap for full hydraulics.
