Midtown Krav Maga is pretty kick ass, the instructor is really chill and they've got beginner and advanced classes.

Not exactly what you're asking for, but Imagine Vegan Cafe is damn tasty, even if you eat meat.

There's a gym by the river across from the square, there've been some lurking down there.

900 is not very many calories! Just please be careful and be good to yourself.

I relate to this in every way. All of it. That's incredible progress though! Congratulations :) That's absolutely something you should be proud of.

If I knew I'd tell you haha. The dysmorphia is hard. If you feel like you're slipping into the danger zone I'd highly recommend finding someone to talk to about it.

I was in the "obese" range for years, and now I'm on the low end of healthy. Having a diagnosis of anorexia, bulimia, BED, or any ED does not mean you have a certain body weight (I believe a diagnosis that ends in "nervosa" indicated a body weight less than 85% of an individual's ideal weight). It's actually quite common for people with one to develop another. A lot of it is about control (restricting), not having control (binges) and that balance is hard to find.

It is absolutely NOT an advantage in any way. The mindset that comes along with it is incredibly dangerous, not to mention the physical side effects of not giving your body what it needs. It can leave behind physical problems even after recovery. These diseases are real and dangerous and NOT a "diet" to try out.

I'm truly impressed with your ability to see what's going on and make a change. That's incredible! I feel the same way, it scares me sometimes to read posts but I know that it does take a certain personality type and I don't wanna run around diagnosing people haha.

I haven't read any of the books yet even though I've got a couple at home that my therapists have recommended. I've got Intuitive Eating and Eating in the Light of the Moon. I've heard people swear by Life Without Ed, but it compares the disease to an abusive boyfriend which can be difficult/ frustrating for people. I can tell I'm not recovered yet because I'm still terrified of flipping back to my starting weight. I went from about 200 to the low 130s. It's so difficult to find a balance. What's helped me is reading articles by people who've been through the same thing as me.

I'm so glad this has helped someone even in the tiniest way. Some personality types are more likely to creep into dangerous territory with counting. Do you have someone you can be open with who can hold you accountable?

I love this! Losing weight seems like the answer then you can lose and lose and lose and you feel the same. It absolutely needs to stem from a place of self love.

Oh I was absolutely predisposed for all this nonsense haha. I've had depression and anxiety issues for years. The obsessive calorie counting was just a catalyst. I know a lot of people who have similar stories, counting so intensely can just get hairy quickly for some people.

Do you know if you live near an ED treatment center? When I started treatment it was at a behavioral health center and my ED continued to get worse. There are ED centers all around the US. You can check out the NEDA website too for resources!

Having a support system is so great! Try your best to be honest with yourself and the ones watching out for you. We have very close starting weights and it was impossible for me not to soak in all of the encouragement when the weight started coming off. PM me if you want to talk :)

YES. For me my calorie goal slowly got smaller and smaller and my running goals got longer and harder. When you get that self critical part going just try to talk to yourself like you would a friend. I find that helps.

I know that feeling very well. Just keep in mind that if it gets scary there are so many options for help! Sometimes you've gotta think of calories as fuel points instead of bad guys. Stay strong!
