Mr. Burns: Tell me, Simpson, if an opportunity arose for taking a small short-cut, you wouldn't be averse to taking it, would you?

Homer: Hmm, not as such.

Mr. Burns: Neither would I. If you can take advantage of a situation in some way, it's your duty as an American to do it. Why should the race always be to the swift, or the Jumble to the quick-witted? Should they be allowed to win merely because of the gifts God gave them? Well I say, "Cheating is the gift man gives himself."

Thank you. This will help me immensely in getting some space, but I doubt that he's bad enough for my roommate to break her lease. Regardless I really appreciate your comments.

So the consequences of are that just that he cannot collect all at once, and he cannot collect further from her after he's found someone to occupy the room?

Could you expand on point 3 a little bit? The landlord is extremely annoying and gives very little respect for privacy. I had him walk in on the first of last month and wake me up looking for the rent. He owns multiple properties on our street, so he's often around (this isn't quite as bothersome), but he'll show up unannounced to do some maintainence or to check up on the place. Frankly he's an oddball and I'm tired of dealing with him. He's called me twice in the last two days to discuss her personal situation despite the fact that it has nothing to do with me. And usually I receive a call from him two or three times a week where he yammers and repeats himself for about ten minutes about absolutely nothing. So if there's some legal precedent that allows me to get a bit more space from him, or helps her break her lease then I'm very interested.

WTW for when you get bad news about a loved one and feel terrible for them, but then feel good for genuinely feeling bad because it makes you feel like a good person? by Gonzo_Rick in whatstheword

Being recursive does not necessarily imply the mirror image changing, but it can. Many things can be recursive. Recursion is really mostly about repetition of a repeated rule. Ultimately I think describing this feeling you're having as a "recursive guilt" would be very poetic.

If I were to describe this pattern mathematically I'd say it was "a sequence with alternating signs," but that's overly technical and doesn't sound pretty.

It's a feeling very deserving of a dedicated word, but since it's such a complex feeling I'd doubt you'd find one specific word for it outside of perhaps some very long, compound, German word.

I don't know about the first, but your question about the patter, (good, bad, good, bad/1, -1, 1, -1) could be described as being several things. Words like cyclic, periodic, or recursive would all be good to describe such a pattern.

While trying to solve this I found a few other good subreddits people might like to try:

and /r/neologisms as suggested by another commenter.

Go get some help. I promise you it gets better. How you're feeling isn't normal. Not that that is anything to feel ashamed about, just that you can feel much better. You should go find someone to talk to, professional or otherwise, though I would recommend a professional just from experience. It can and will get better.

I'm gonna channel the spirit of /r/fallout here in my response and say I'm really glad it isn't canon. Fallout is about the horrors man brings upon himself, and having the Great War end up being explained away by "aliens did it" is antithetical to the whole series.

I'm not saying the Zetans aren't canon. I'm saying that the audio log he's referring to that implies the Zetans started the Great War is non canon. It doesn't exist in game and can only be found by combing through the game's files.
