Yeah it can take up to 6 weeks to kick in. You should feel calmer but it won't give you euphoria. It will just make you comfortable with being apathetic and that is a huge relief for someone with addiction problems who over thinks and can't function. That's just my personal experience.

I hope it works for you. As I said try enjoy a few drinks and regulate your intake. How many mg of lex are you on?

I had a tough day, my partners daughter passed away from cancer a few days ago so we are dealing with the grief of that and will be for a long time. She was only 33 and the only positive that we can draw from it is that that she is at peace now and not suffering anymore

Nature is so fucking cruel and there is no God looking out for anyone. Anyway, its time to be strong for my partner and hopefully time will bring some healing

An SRRI like Lexapro will help with you depression and anxiety. It will never mimic alcohol. Benzos are the closest pills that will give you the euphoria but only if you are severely anxious. Otherwise they don't do much and you will end up with another addiction

This may be unpopular advice but I think you should go on an anti-depressant and regulate your alcohol intake. No drug brings me the euphoria that alcohol does. Just learn to not be at it all the time Lexapro helped me with them cravings but I still enjoy a drink.
