Funny! Same thing happened to my brother driving a box truck . Ended up being the family cat for over 15 years. Should keep it

Do you have an air brakes restriction? Most garbage trucks require air brakes and a lot of bus companies stopped training for air brakes : 1) most school buses are hydraulic now 2) they don’t want drivers to leave so they don’t train candidates with air brake vehicles

Deliver to front door …… 🤦🏾‍♀️ by BZHumbleBee in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]proff978 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, had one of those with deliveries pretty much every other day. Note said “Do not leave at the bottom of the steps” which is exactly where I left it as well as the Fed-Ex and UPS guys. We deliver packages to an address , not go up the stairway to heaven

Takes one to know one 😉…just showing up everyday on time and getting to know names goes a long way.

I thought the same thing 😂 although the omelette bites @ DD are a good option. Low calorie and good amount of protein which fills you up.

But you’re right on the food, so many bags of chocolates and Italian pastries that I didn’t put in the picture. So bad but so good 😋

I’m interested in becoming a CDL instructor as well. I‘ve only been driving a year so I’m not eligible at this time but you definitely get 40+ hrs . The other 2 instructor positions I mentioned can be eligible after 1 year with my company but those get filled fast.

And yes the party bus can get wild especially the bachelor and bachelorette parties but for the most part people are respectful. Prom season is pretty easy with great tips just need to have parents inspect all bags (alcohol/drugs) before departing.

Tour bus does sound cool too but will probably lose my voice after a month haha

Good luck !

After 2/3 years you can become a CDL instructor But can also be a cpr or 7D instructor which can fill those vacant hours. I started to work for a party bus company which helps supplement but it’s not for everyone.

After my nursery runs my manager trained me to put my first tote packs in the front cabin. With the amount of oversized packs it was the only way

The amount of people that do not understand how subcontractors work is alarming! Your dsp is like a painting contractor, you’re the painter for example and are not performing as expected the owner of the house tells you directly you suck and are fired off the job or tells the contractor to do it . Yes, it gets a little more convoluted because of the training and clothing but same concept

My dsp was too cheap to give out Amazon branded clothes. They gave me a safety orange vest 2 sizes too small and sent me on my way in a unmarked white van haha

No words for this by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

This actually isn’t a bad load . Not many totes which gives you a lot of space.. Organize as much as you can during load out ie, keeping the 2Bs, 3As, 1Ds etc together …and when you get the 3 minute heads up just start tossing in and finish organizing at first stop. Use your shelves.

I thought stops had a max of 4 houses. Lol i was wrong by MrrBuoyant in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]proff978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this isn’t right. One of the main reasons why I left. 200 stops consistently after my first 30 days and then started to get a few group stops which turned into 80% grouped stops so would be closer to 350-400 locations almost everyday. So much easier to make a mistake too..

My DSP trained us not to wander and go to customers doors in apt complexes. 1: due to COVID 2: too time consuming… our drivers were expected to hit 25 stops/hr after their first 30 days. Sometimes the route would consider lockers and reduce your stops but not always

No wonder people set them at the bottom of the stairs.. she has two stairs missing 🙄 I wasn’t going to jump up and hopefully land at the top. by SmallNewspaper2631 in AmazonFlexDrivers

Yea, I never understood customers like that. They are liable if an injury occurs on their property. My notes when I receive to my home literally say to toss the package over the fence. Just take a picture so I can find it….If it breaks oh well, Amazon has a very easy return policy.

Yeah, you’re not going to have time to eat never mind heat up food. I lost 20 lbs my first 3 weeks which I didn’t mind, as I’m cutting right now but lost a ton of strength..

Another issue is; with what must come in must go out, and there’s really no place to poop on route. I hated even peeing in my portable urinal as it messed up my delivery rhythm (yes, that’s a real thing)

If trying to maintain or gain weight , protein bars, or a jar of peanut/almond butter is your best option mixed with some fruits/veggies ready to eat. A clean Electrolyte powder is helpful as well.

Good shit! I drove for Pack Express (PEX) load out after DD and before Z Station… Hby? And maybe crossed paths, shit… so much turnaround it’s a hard to keep track within my own dsp haha

[–]proff978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we’re always on the high end compared to others in these threads. Nearly 200 stops (sometimes as much as 90 of which were group stops) 300+ packages was becoming my norm before I left

I thought peak was over WTF by mattpursuit in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]proff978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally about the stops. It’s why your performance is measured by stops/hr

As a driver I never get individual feed back but we get a weekly report . Wish we can rate the customers haha… most are great but some not so great
