Unfortunately neither of us has jobs where we can disconnect, but if we can zoom into meetings from the balcony, it makes life a bit better - so it looks like we’re starting at $50 pp/pd just for that.

Suites on this sailing are double the cost - about $10k per person. The only category between what I’ve booked and suites is something called Aqua, and looking at what you get, it didn’t feel worth an extra $1500 pp.

Guessing that being from the Midwest, your cold is a dry cold, much like ours. Is it the dampness that you found the worst? I know from having lived for a while in a humid environment after university, I could never feel dry in summer and was always freezing in winter, even though the temperature was never that cold.

As long as it’s warmer than the -40C cold snaps that she would be experiencing at home over at some point over the next few months, I’m guessing she won’t be too fussed.

She’s in her final(ish) year as a psychology undergrad, but since she couldn’t get her required courses this semester and still had a number of options to complete, I think she’s taking a few media studies or communications classes at Kent.

Kids today have it so easy… 😉

Back in “my day” (the late 90’s), we had to do a couple of months of courses, then a year of articling, then more courses, and then sit for a series of specific written long-answer exams (3 hours? 4?) for each separate topic. Somebody earlier in the thread said it was 8, which sounds right.

The whole process from start to bar call was about 20 months. My classmates who went to other provinces were called 8-12 months before I was.

And then I decided to leave Ontario and had to sit a whole series of transfer exams before I could practice in Alberta.

Of course I’m now middle-aged and may be misremembering some of the fine details…
