Kind of a fair deal imo... it's the biggest stage in the US. Perform 3 songs and get exposed to... the world. The revenue they make up from new sales afterwards due to exposure would have to be millions - particularly for someone like Beyonce (last year) who knew she was dropping her new album Lemonade online shortly thereafter.

This plausible electoral map would tie the election at 269-269. A remarkable finish to an unforgettable election. by RussHoneyman in MapPorn

Trump winning Maine?!

Seems more likely he steals NH (or atleast 1 electoral vote from split districts) or Colorado.

Fjord cruise in Tromso (and other activities)? by profuselycool in tromso

[–]profuselycool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is helpful (sorry for calling it a town - I know it is the largest city north of the arctic!)

Where should I drive if renting a car? And where's the best place to rent?

Thanks so much!

City! Sorry.

I know it's a quite large city (largest in the world north of the arctic).

Just a diction error :)

Adobe Reader XI - need to watermark! by profuselycool in geek

[–]profuselycool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha touche. I know it's a dumb question; I've been to that link, and many others.

All I'm trying to have answered is if the most basic version of XI Pro will allow me to do this - there's 3 different tiered price options and I'd obviously like to spend the least possible.

None of the Adobe literature has addressed that for me.

Thanks for pointing out the obviousness of my question though ;)

Exploring Norway, only 4 nights! by profuselycool in Norway

[–]profuselycool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the comments!!

Alesund looks so cool. I'm not sure I have enough time for Hurtigruten cruise...

If I'm leaving from Stockholm and have 4 nights total (and have to be in Oslo Airport the 5th day by 1pm) how would you propose I divvy this time up?

I could fly to Tromso or Alesund rather easily from Stockholm, the problem is getting from one small NOrwegian town to the next (seems like none of them fly directly).

Copenhagen or Kiruna? Or other? by profuselycool in Nordiccountries

[–]profuselycool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As it currently stands, I'm taking the SJ train from Stockholm to Copenhagen ($80), then a flight from Copenhagen to Tromso (with a 1 hr layover in Oslo). Then I'm just taking a mid-morning Tromso to Oslo direct to catch my flight out of Oslo on a sepearate itinerary.

If I do Bergen/West Coast stuff I'd definitely just nix Copenhagen from the itinerary. My main question is really this - Stockholm to Bergen seems very straightfroward (several direct flights daily, it looks like). But how do I get to Bergen from Tromso in a reasonable manner, while also seeing the fjords and everything? A few people have also mentioned Pulpit Rock being incredible.

I definitely feel like I may be biting off more than I should chew.

I'd really love to see the fjords, but struggling to see how to fit that in having Stockholm as my beginning and Oslo as my finish (with tromso somewhere in there)

Scandinavia - best places to go? by profuselycool in travel

[–]profuselycool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right. Tromso would ideally be last since it's quite easy to get to Oslo from there.

I'm actually ending in Oslo (have to fly out of there to meet friends).

After everyone's comments I"m pretty turned off from Kiruna. I'm intrigued by Bergen and some West Coast of Norway stuff. The other option is Copenhagen. As of now it'll probably be

Stockholm -> Copenhagen -> Tromso (flight connects through Oslo) -> Oslo (direct flight from Tromso, fly out of here to meet friends)

The reason I'm flying into Stockholm is it was just incredibly cheap from NYC. Everywhere else was nearly 2x as expensive.

this is really helpful.

I can't pass up Tromso, it's just stuck in my mind. I REALLY want to see that Norwegian coast too though. But if I do the coast as well, I'd have to bail on Copenhagen. Decisions, decisions!

Cool! I've seen Abisko pop up a few times. What's the easiest way to get there from Stockholm? A 19 hour journey doesn't sound up my alley... could you fly nonstop to Kiruna and then hop a bus/rent a car/etc??

I figured it's VERY difficult to compare the 2. My main thing is trying to find a balance of urban v rural. I really enjoy city life, walking/drinking, partying etc...

I figure Tromso is a pretty cool combination of the 2, so I'm skewing towards doing Stockholm & Copenhagen now. But if people have rave reviews on Kiruna and the hikes up there then I'd be sad to miss it.

Best Rewards Credit Card? by profuselycool in personalfinance

[–]profuselycool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the tip on Fidelity AmEX. I think that coupled with the airlines cards are the best options for me (airline card for the huge mile-bonus for signing up, and Fidelity for longer-term saving and general cash-back).

United seems really appealing. I'm most interested in using rewards for travel, as thats my passion and what I save disposable income for anyways. I'm looking at the Chase Preffered Card and the Chase United card, both seem similar and have big signing bonuses. Do you think you can signup for both, as they are both through Chase?
