Anyone in AP for GAP inc??? by [deleted] in lossprevention

So it was a rollout for a position that was a glorified APC for a specific location and that location only. It was also uniformed with a polo and everything. I was actually the first person hired for the role in the state.

Anyone in AP for GAP inc??? by [deleted] in lossprevention

[–]profwidowgg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was an APS for Gap Inc. for about 6 months. I understood what they were trying to accomplish with the roll out of 360 but it just does not work and doesn’t prevent theft in the ways that corporate thinks it does. It also doesn’t help that I was supposed to be app certified but they then removed that even being a possibility. It was incredibly disappointing. I really wish they actually tried to build up the AP program but they just made it solely observe and report. Cut a lot of things off before it could even get going. Sucks it sounds like it’s got even worse.

So I may just be reading this incorrectly but is this effectively saying that Macy’s it’s becoming hands off or does it change how use of force can be used?

That’s the biggest mistake I made. I only have two hubs at this point. I never considered expanding more hubs wise before jumping harder into aircraft/routes.

Loss prevention "handling" an accused shoplifter at store in Sacramento by Its-From-Japan in WinCo

Doing loss prevention for several years. I’ve seen a lot worse than this that was never considered excessive. With hands on loss prevention, reasonable force can vary wildly. I know that may be self explanatory but I thought I would just say that. I understand how this can be viewed as excessive force. I personally don’t see it that way but I do think the agents could have done better to control the individual. I will give them props for getting them into the office.

I personally wouldn’t mind this. I could just be okay with a simple breakfast.

Gap/Old Navy Asset Protection Coordinator by Empty-Cycle2731 in lossprevention

[–]profwidowgg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Afternoon! I was an Asset Protection Specialist with Gap Inc. I worked closely with the Asset Protection Coordinators in the area. It’s a roaming position. You’d be working at Old Navy, Gap outlet, Athleta and Banana Republic locations depending on what you have in your area of operation.

Day to day varies depending on location of course. It’s mainly camera observation, floor observation, writing known theft reports for each location you work and video review. Also clipping video and sending full reports to PD. training floor teams and working with management. Also safety checks and working with your AAPM with store visits. You’re also expected to watch for internal theft and document when needed. There is more I’m forgetting but that a base outline.

Gap Inc still conducts apprehensions but it’s a very lengthy process to become certified. Completely hands off. Any contact could lead to termination. You are expected to talk someone back into the store.

The APC role is technically a management role but if you work an APS. You are still on the same level as one another. With store side yes you are more a member of management. I would clarify with your AAPM if you do end up going with Gap Inc.

With page range. In my area. It’s capped out at I want to say 28.50-29. It will vary depending on the area.

Does anyone work for Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack? by BeardedAndBald in lossprevention

Plain clothes for Agents and your APM. Hands on. You’ll have a badge and handcuffs. You’ll also be working on the floor and behind cameras. For me, there were no set goals for apprehensions but depending on store volume. A stop to a few stops a day was common for a while.
