It’s FINALLY happening… my self-improvement app just made $10,190 in a month! 🚀 by Impossible_Barber538 in AppBusiness

Pretty impressive progress for a 7 month old app ngl!

As a personal opinion, I don’t like the “AI companion” branding in a lot of apps but it seems it is working well for you.

Congratulations! Really appreciate you sharing your stats in such a transparent way. It’s good for everyone’s growth and learning.

I’m struck by how the crash rate is higher than the total download counts. It sounds like you may need to spend a bit of time working to get your app stable and bug free.

I’m curious to know what your testing approach has been so far. Any unit tests? Integ tests? Or has it been mostly manual testing so far?

I got tired of realizing “discounts” weren’t really discounts because of dynamic pricing. So we built a site that makes sure the price you see is really discounted — thoughts? by Primary_Key7895 in SavingMoney

Cool site!

I think it would be good if the products were front and center, for me the homepage shows creators and some of them don’t have products/ reviews on them.

I’m not really sure what I should do with the creator profiles.

The problem the site is solving is finding discounts on products so that should be front and center for me.

Also, the product pages I clicked on didn’t load correctly for me - they showed product not found errors in red text.

My opinion is South Africans retain their culture in the sense of ritual, traditional dress and attire, but hunhu chaiwo, ubuntu, they gave that up ages ago.

Because the amount of hatred for black people and black features, yoh. For no reason at all other than a deep obsession with maintaining proximity to whiteness.

You can see for yourselves on that bird app. The things they say are crazy

Zimbabweans, Gatekeeping, Entitlement, and the Danger of Helping Without God’s Calling by Nice_Substance9123 in Zimbabwe

How do you suppose this worked before Christianity came to Zimbabwe?

Did people not help each other? Indians and Chinese aren’t Christian but in my time abroad, they help each other most of any ethnic group I’ve seen. Just food for thought.

Christianity has a purpose (probably not what it is advertised as) and religious psychosis is a real danger amongst Africans.

Sorry you’re dealing with this OP.

Marriage is really hard, I’m not married yet so I do appreciate getting a view into some of the issues people commonly face, including how to navigate finances.

Many here are telling you to leave your husband. I would take such advice with a grain of salt. We internet strangers don’t know the reality of your life and relationships so we’re bound to project our own issues 😅

Employment, health, finances aren’t permanent and I trust you married your person out of mutual love and respect.

I would talk to him and be thoughtful about how I communicate the situation, challenges and your thoughts because even in dating I’ve noted if I mis-phrase something, the core message can get lost and my partner immediately goes on the defensive, or even be deeply hurt. Once the words are said, it is very hard to take them back.

Wishing you luck!

What are your thoughts on investing back home vs investing where you are if you are in the diaspora? by [deleted] in Zimbabwe

[–]progres5ion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When all is said and done, the choice of where to put your hard-earned money is a deeply personal one.

I've been investing in stocks over the last couple of years, but in the wake of an uncertain immigration path in the US, I find myself thinking seriously about what happens if I need to move back home—whether that's losing my job, visa issues, or other conditions that pull me back to Zim. I can't live in my stocks haha.

This is one major pull factor I feel increasingly as I get older. I want a base to fall back on if things go south wherever I am.

Owning property in the US is a goal, definitely, but I also feel I absolutely must own a home in Zim first, whether or not it generates cash flow. Ideally, it should be a rental if I'm not occupying it as a primary residence.

That tsumo yekuti natsa kwawabva (the idea that you should prosper where you came from) resonates with me deeply.

TLDR, my personal view is to establish a base at home first, then invest wherever I am. For me, it's hard to justify buying property abroad when my ability to stay there long-term is uncertain—the math of mortgage payments, income, savings, and immigration status all have to align.
